THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL - AC MILAN VS LIVERPOOL

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Leper Messiah » Wed May 23, 2007 10:41 pm

Its not normally my thing to go onto the forums of other clubs, but I thought Id share my thoughts on the CL Final with you.

Liverpool were the better team tonight, a great effort that the club can be proud of, just as I was proud of our losing effort last year.

As an Arsenal fan, two years ago when Liverpool were in the final, I was happy to support them and give them my full backing.  English team in the final and all that.  I was just as captivated and enthralled by the great comeback as anyone else.

Then last year, we reached the final.  I thought that since Liverpool had enjoyed broad support the year before with the understandable exception of some Everton fans and United in general, Arsenal would also recieve wide backing.

As you'll recall, not so.  I was rather taken aback by several Liverpool fans, some that I knew, and others that Id seen talking on forums and the like, getting strongly behind Barcelona.

I couldnt understand this at the time.  After all theres no real emnity between Arsenal and Liverpool.  And to be fair, it wasnt just Liverpool.  Lots of English fans with very little reason to have anything against Arsenal went to rediculous lengths.  Barcelona shirts sold by the barrel load.

So fast forward to this year.  I dont mind telling you that I was right behind Milan in this final, and I was delighted to see them win.  Indeed, Liverpool were the better team, but after last years experience that hardly matters to me.  I won't be backing any English teams in Europe in the future, but I'm glad Liverpool were the first ones I got to root against in a final since they are the apex of the fans that had no reason to show such disrespect last year, yet they still did.

Bottom line, thank you for your defeat tonight, I really enjoyed it.

its a fact they wouldnt have scored the second if the lucky first hadnt have gone in, rafa took mascherano off because with 20 minutes left he probably looked at his 2 centre mids and thought who is more likely to put in a killer pass in.
if we wouldnt have been 1 down we wouldnt have changed it.
people can question rafa`s tactics but when we were the better side how can anyone question the tactics or selection?
if i had to lose a cl final it would have been like that.
that bluenose c##t andy gray probably said it best when he said the best side in 2005 lost and in 2007 the best team lost.
good luck to milan, they are a great club who probably owed us that.

that $h1thead Andy Gray wasn't supporting Milan...he just didn't want us to win...I can understand his envy seeing how in his career the closest he even came to an European Cup was when he visited our trophy room

You know what i dont understand, is that tonight and i want to get this straight i love Steven Gerrard, and i dont for one minuite blame him for this. But the role in the middle is his supposed favourite position, yet tonight i didnt think he had a good game.

All year we have been hearing about how much he dislikes being on the right, yet he gets to have a free role position and nothing comes of it.

I have to say, Leper Messiah's post is one of the funniest things I've read on here for a while.

The politest trolling I've ever seen in my life. Good man, what what.

I am so going to egg the Emirates on my way into work tomorrow morning after that. It seems only right. :p

thank you for your concern...I know it must be heartbreaking seeing your team in such $h1thole all year long...I bet you guys will be having a busy summer dealing with players looking for a move to escape the expected imploding within the club...mind taking Salif Diao with you next season?

How very sad that you felt the need to register on here just to post that. You have tarred all LFC fans with the same brush due to your experience with a minority. It makes no difference that your post was well thought out and written instead of the usual ha,ha,ha you lost, if anything it is even more worrying, looks like you have rehearsed that since your 'experience" last year.

Im sorry that you felt you and your team was shown disrespect, but to be perfectly honest with you mate not one of us on here will lose any sleep over the fact you wanted Milan to win ?

You are free to support what ever team you want, i just dont see the point in the whole sob story i had to read through just to establish that point

Hi from Athens, just got home from the stadium. A good game, you were  better at first half but really not that dangerous at the front.

Milan a quality team with a bit of luck tonight & a good attacker like Pipo in a good day.

So many English fans in Athens ...

Of course Im bitter.  Can you say you'll forget tonight's defeat any time soon?

How quickly would you have forgotten if the country had solidly backed Milan today?

We are the only English team to reach the final that has ever experienced that, and youd not soon forgive it if you had.  Im aware there were neutrals that backed Arsenal, but they seemed very much the minority.

I am a LFC fan and I was supporting Arsenal in the final last year, and I know of lots of other Liverpool fans who were also, I will always support English teams in Europe bar the mancs, chelski and the blueshite (like they get anywhere in Europe anyway!).

You just sound bitter.

Reading around at neutral forums today I can tell you there were a hell of a lot of English fans supporting Milan tonight.
