THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL - AC MILAN VS LIVERPOOL

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby rinoayuna » Wed May 23, 2007 10:00 pm

Ok so Milan won...if only we had a bit more time. The 3mins of added time was a fluke man. Whatever happened to Inzaghi anyway? And the substitions....downright shameful on Milan. Anyway I am really disappointed but you have to admit Milan deserved to win because they took their chances and made fewer mistakes. There's always next time anyway. I don't regret waking up and watching this match even though it was from 2 to 5 am on a school day where I have to reach school by 7am. I feel it was worth it.

Cheer up everyone...we fought right to the end. :)

couldnt agree more mate...    we are crying out for natural wingers...   big changes come the summer...  and many players to be shipped off...

verry proud of liverpool...   the future is bright for liverpool...

cant wait till next season  because we will have a team to challange for everything  and thats the fecking truth...

If I may borrow a pet phrase from Maureen

THE BETTER TEAM LOST!

As much as I love Rafa I think he got it wrong this time. Whole season he hasn't played Gerrard as the support striker and the very last game he gambles with a system nobody (particularly the frontline) is sure how it works. Although it might be exactly because of this system that we keep Seedorf, and to a lesser extent Kaka, quiet. But what's the point when you nullify the opposition's attack by nullifying ours at the same time.

I never rated Zenden btw, out of 5 attempts he tries to cross, 4 will crash into the body of a defender, despite it being blatantly evident that he is not going to get the cross in. This had been what I had observeed, god dam it, from his Chelsea days!!!!

Pennant did well though, Gerrard was absent, Carragher was pretty ordinary by his high standards. Riise was too tired and caught napping for Milan's second goal (too dependent on the linesman's flag).

Milan were there for the taking today. The fear of losing a second time to the same opposition in the final had them passing waywardly. But we just had no one on top of Rafa's 'improvised Christmas tree" to finish off any move. How many times we did we see Kuyt on the flanks trying to cross the ball in. He's the lone striker for god's sake, if he's there, that just means we don't have any decent firepower or numbers to finish off anything even if he manages to put anything across the 6 yard box.

Mascherano had a great game and as someone pointed out why isn't it Alonso that was subbed. Mas' withdrawal gave Kaka the space to deliever the 2nd goal.

With one last substitution Rafa brought in a defender for another defender.

GeeZ!

2 finals in 3 years...disapointed but it was a scrappy game and we weren't at the races in the 2nd half.  BTW..why didi the ref blow the game in early?

Look at their second goal, Kaka had acres of space when he received the pass, he would not if Mascherano were still on the pitch.

Alonso had a poor game, he should have be taken off. Mascherano had an awesome game. Rafa's tactics may have been spot on but his choice of personnel to do the job was dead wrong. Zenden? Kewell on for Zenden? Why does Rafa distrust Crouch so much when he has scored so many goals for us this season?

They were so afraid of him, yet we brought him on only for the last 15 minutes.

I agree that Rafa is a very good manager, but sometimes his tactics and choice of personnel is so baffling.

Congratulations on the win, but try to have some sense when you post. Everyone who watched that game tonight knows the better team did not win, but it doesnt matter Milan are the winners and thats all that matters, come on here and post by all means. But at least be intelligent about it, other wise.....Image

I am an Everton fan and watched this tonight.  Thought Liverpool outplayed Milan and thought the ref was a travesty.  Especially blowing before the 3 mins + the 30 seconds that should have been added for the sub.  But apart from that Milan were absent and were very lucky to get anything from the game.  Unlucky!

2001 FA Cup Final ring any bells?

We were undoubtably the better team in the middle of the park however they could finish (well ish) we simply could not

Spot on mate.. the biggest mistake rafa did was taking out mascherano.

His subs changed the game.

We lack a world class striker, if we had one we would have finished the game.

Hey guys,
What a sad night. Liverpool deserved to win, they played so well.
To be honest, the ref job's was :censored: tonight. There was a penalty he didn't even whistle.

Hope we'll be there again next year!!!
