Just watched the Sky Sports preview and they mad a bit of a fuss of that, but I'm not buying it. From what I've heard, Rafa keeps everyone guessing until a few hours before.
It's probably Pennant's arrogant streak rearing it's ugly head again in assuming he's going to play.

Not so sure it won't be the case. Interview with Crouchy in the Express - He says that the team practice the formation rafa has elected to use in the week leading up to the game but the team is not announced untill 90mins before the match. If we play 4-4-1-1 you can pretty much bank on Stevie playing through the middle with JP on the right. I'll be delighted if Pennant plays because he's the one player in the squad (along with Kewell) with the pace and trickery to beat a man. ever since Garcia went down injured i have felt his form would be key to us getting anywhere in this competition and i stand by that. If we win tomorrow i would put money on Pennant being one of the players to have a good game.

How the fu.c.k am i gonna get to sleep tonight!!!

European Cup Final ............... Does it sound familiar ? Well it should do to supporters of both Liverpool and AC Milan as betweeen them they have contested 18 Finals between them out of 51 (thats just under 1 in every 3 finals contested by one of these two teams since its inception in 1955.

Milan have won it 6 times out of 10 and Liverpool 5 out of 6, by far the best ratio of any of the finalists in the history of the competition. AC Milan however have also recorded the greatest margin of victory in a European Cup Final, 4-0 in 1988 against Steaua Bucherest and repeated the feat  in 1993 against Barcelona and 2 years ago many would be forgiven at half time for believing that the record would be broken but alas it was not to be as Liverpool staged the best comeback since Lazarus ! :D

So to the 2007 final and these two teams are set  to do battle again in what has become possibly the biggest club game in the world. A meeting of minds as much as playing ability as Milan seek redemption from the darkest day in their footballing history. You would like to think that a wily old fox of a manager like Ancelotti will have eliminated talk of "revenge" and "retribution" but those Italians are a fiery bunch and it appears particularly difficult to keep a lid on the simmering Gattusso.

But beneath all that bluster and rhetoric are a team of fine players and in Kaka they have probably the worlds best player at present. In his autobiography, Steven Gerrard in the chapter on Istanbul he writes that he couldn't get near Kaka in that first half and only the introduction of Dietmar Hamann in the second half quelled Kaka's influence giving Gerrard and Alonso room to play. Whats interesting this time is that "Kaiser Chief" isn't at Liverpool anymore so it looks like that monumental task is the responsibility of Mascherano who is almost certain to start. I've been impressed with the Argentinian since he joined Liverpool but he is going to have to be at the very top of his game to stop this years competition highest scorer.

However, although Kaka has improved Milan are probably a little weaker than they were in 2005 whislt Liverpool are patently stronger in all departments than they were 2 years ago. Seven of the Milan starting 11 are likely to start tomorrow but Maldini in his 8th Champions League final and Seedorrf are feeling the effects of the sands of time surely. I mean come on, Maldini's older than me ! :D

Whatever happens don't expect the drama of 2005 although I said that in 1997 on the eve of the Newcastle game which we had won the season before 4-3 (You know the rest , we won 4-3 again  !) I will say this though, if it goes to penalties who would want to be a Mialn player as he walks forward to take a penalty !
I suppose they can console themselves with the fact that it won't be Jersey Dudek in goal.......just  penalty saver extrodinaire Pepe Reina !

In recent years Liverpool don't contest boring predicatble finals as Istanbul and the 2006 FA Cup Final in Cardiff proved. Pity that Chelsea dbn Man U couldn't do the same last Saturday as Wembley welcomed back the FA Cup Final. Half the players played like they were already on the beach and the entertainment value was poor and thats being kind ! Never mind fans of  CFC and MUFC, theres always the Charity Shield to look forward to ! :Oo:

And Finally.......... I've done a bit of research and discovered that NEXT YEARS Champions League final is at the Luzhniki Stadium and the good news is that it holds 84,745, the bad news is it's in Moscow ! :D
