Take a look through the threads. People were saying it about Pepe initially, then Finnan, then Hyypia, then Alonso, etc, etc, etc.

If you change your mind like the wind, then you're fickle - there's no way around that.

I defended Pepe, check the thread, I havn't had a go at Hyypia, or Finnan so how am I fickle?

I have said Alonso played poorly against Chelsea I don't think thats fickle mate.

haha, if they have a bad performance and someone says that performance is bad then thats a fact mate, its not being fickle, if a player starts well and goes through a prolonged period of performances is it not fair to say the are sh!t (bearing in mind we dont have the hindsight to se if they get better again so we dont know if their early promise is a flash in the pan)

come on mate no need for name calling on this, its not warranted.

Maybe as Stu says his passing is not going to get any better (I'm not sure about that) but people seem to forget how well he has done for us. FA cup final last year, Barca away, Chelsea in the Charity Shield etc etc big big games and huge performances from Sissoko.

He has had 2 bad injuries and has lost form at the moment, but I think he can still play a big part next season. I would keep all five midfielders for next season, after all what if our young Brazilian friend struggles like Gonzo has? At worst Lucas is just a replacement for Bolo(definitely gone now in my view), at best he's another string to our bow.

Once Lucas has proven himself, maybe then we can reassess the midfield, but if we want to go into next season with confidence I would be looking to keep Xabi AND Sissoko.

I do think signing Mascherano has show us(or me at least) one thing, he is a better defensive midfield player than Alonso. Thats not to say he's a better player than Alonso, but I have always thought of Alonso has a deep lying playmaker who was asked to take on some of a role that he has done admirably but wasn't particularly suited to. This I think was why Rafa was reluctant to pair him with Gerrard, and felt more comfortable pairing him with Sissoko. Similar to Pirlo of Milan who needs Gattuso alongside him, Alonso needs added protection. As I said in an earlier post I don't think Mascherano and Xabi would work together as a pair either.

This leaves either a 3 man central midfield(my choice) or Gerrard paired with Mascherano, and Xabi paired with Sissoko, with Lucas as the unknown quantity.

If we decide to go with the central 3 we need much better quality from the wings than we have seen this year, so I suppose much depends on who Rafa manages to bring in and maybe Kewell's fitness next season.

In short I agree Bob keep them all :D

I said keep them all !!!!

Well I agree. I never wanted to sell them - I think we've got the strongest central midfield in World football atpm, so why the f*ck would we sell anyone?

But "Swap Alonso for Eto'o" and "If we get an offer of £10m for Alonso I'd take it" makes my f*cking blood boil...

I never said YOU were fickle. I was simply stating the fact that IF you (or anyone else) said someone was brill one minute, then W*nk the next, then THAT would make you (or them) fickle.

i havent seen that on here, and why is the old fickle argument raising its head again, surely people can change their opinion on something, but thats not what is happening here, not wishing to sould like a broken record lando, but nobody has said he is sh1t or should be sold

Read back through this and other threads mate, I bet I have seen people saying he should be swapped for Eto'o or sold for £10m at least 20 times.

And again - if you change your opinions like you change your underwear, then it's fickle.

maybe those people have always had that opinion mate, but you have to be fair here, saying someone should be sold is very different to someone saying they are sh1t, if someone is sold for the sake of the club then surely thats a good thing, RVN wasnt sh!t, the mancs sold him for the good of their club and won the league

So I guess then that Gerrard can go, provided Eto'o comes in part-ex, seeing as he's had a poor season?

Good players don't become :censored: overnight, and Alonso still has his ability - he's just f*cked.

I really don't care for comments which belittle his contributions, and "he's easily replaceable" is disrespectful to the lad - no one could do what he does for us.

Mascherano could definitely do a job for us - a very, very good one.

But he'd never do the job Xabi does, and that's the thing we'd miss.

We all know that Having Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, and now Mascherano, that all these players will not fit into two. This is why Alonso will move to Barcelona with cash in exchange for Etto.

Alonso has been well below par this season.

He is a good player but not a world class player.

Well done Welsh Wizzard, you never jumped off the wagon.

Where have I made a comment belittling Alonso? The worst thing I have said about Alonso is that Mascherano is not better than him.

I stand by what I said though Lando :D

come on lando, now its dummy out the pram time, thats not what i am saying and you know damn well thats not what i am saying, its ok having your say mate but resorting to making stupid comments is not needed, you are doing well enough without having to twist things.

i also have to ask the question 'just what has alonso done for us?"  it seems the argument here from some is that alonso is the best thing since sliced bread and is the be all and end all of LFC, he isnt.

and like i have said many times, i dont want him to leave but if its for the benefit of the club then so be it, let him go, if his sale makes way for players who can alter the team for the better and put us in at least touching distance of the title then great, lets sell him.

but i am not advocating selling him for a few dodgy performances and the wrong body language. the choice may not even be liverpools at the end of the day, if the rumours are true about homesickness then he will want to go to barcelona and there will be nothing the supporters can do about it.

i remember having this conversation about keegan, look what happened, i remember haing this conversation about souness (player) look what happened. one player does not make a team mate, alonso does not make liverpool. like i have said before if he does go it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, just like when sissoko was injured and rafa was forced to play gerrard in his best position in the centre.

:D

Sabre this was a decent football discussion, it seems some of us have different views to others.

And we're discussing why, and what.

You dont need to jump in and stir things up with comments like that. I presume by what you've highlited your accusing us of jumping off the Alonso bandwagon.

Thats not the case atall, obviously your English needs a lot more development in terms of reading and understanding text.

The only person I can see thats jumped on a "bandwagon" is a Spanish correspondant, who follows RS. And follows LFC due to the fact we signed Xabi Alonso.

:) You're not helping your cause saying that.

Why? Because one day Alonso and Rafa will leave, and I'll be here doing exactly the same thing for the forum, and following LFC games. I will remember this comment, and I'll remind it to you. It's a matter of time you're proven wrong so I'm not worried. You seem to have the ability to read minds and know why I follow LFC and since when *shrug*, it's ok, I don't care.

But I tell you something. You lot are right telling Lando that he should check his language to defend his player, because he has talked about posters, and not about football when he said all that. But you must realise you're not talking about football when you tell me I'm biased because Alonso is from San Sebastian, and you're telling Lando ALonso is his golden boy.

Why? because a neutral reader will think that you're resorting to that because you're completely unable to prove us wrong with footie arguements.

So if you want to continue the "Sabre is not a true fan" campaign, do so, because I never came here to say I'm the best LFC supporter of the world, and I always said who I support and since when I follow LFC. This "true fan" contest, doesn't bother me. A true supporter goes to the stadium regularly, and those are the ones I hear.

You didn't understand? I'll tell you the same thing again in other words: you don't prove your football points, the whys and whats telling me I'm biased and all that. That are comments about ME, not the TOPIC we're discussing.

Get it? now, why alonso is not a holding midfielder in your view? that remains unanswered.
