Mr Ancelotti wont be best pleased with that move.  :)   ( reverse psychology?)  For the record, the set-up St has highlighted would be my choice. With the industry of Kuyt/Bellamy possibly added into the mix later on, to worry their tiring Defence after Crouch has left a few bruises behind. There's no reason to play it anything other than patiently for the first hour, just like the old days. This time round, the inclusion of a holding Midfielder from the start will add balance, thus aiding the avoidance of the early mistakes in the Ataturk. Hopefully!

Milan want Gerrard central

By Nadia Carminati -  Created on 14 May 2007

Carlo Ancelotti has said that he would prefer Steven Gerrard to line up in the centre of midfield when Milan tackle Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final next week.

Rafa Benitez has been criticised at times for playing Gerrard in a wide right position where he is perceived to be less effective.

But he did partner Gerrard with Javier Mascherano in the heart of midfield in the second leg of the semi-final against Chelsea, with Xabi Alonso starting on the bench.

Ancelotti, however, insists he would be delighted to see Liverpool employ the same tactics against Milan, as he believes The Reds are weaker with Gerrard in the centre.

"When Steven Gerrard is in the middle, Liverpool are less solid in the centre of midfield," he told the Italian press following Milan's 1-1 draw with Catania.

"But when he goes wide and Xabi Alonso is in the centre, then they are more protected.

"I would prefer to face the first option.

"We know the way Liverpool play very well, and they can say the same about us."

Milan's draw with Catania secured their place in the final qualifying round of next season's Champions League.

And Ancelotti added: "It has been a big aim to get to the Champions League for next season."

Milan in the serie A has 32 points minus comparing to inter and would even be at -24 not just coz the penalization....but remember also that Ac Milan:1) has known of these penalizations just at the end of july n the team hasnt Done the right physical Training preparation for the Serie A...
2)Milan wasn' t sure til the Middle of august to Play in the following Champ.league beacuse playin vs REd Star..
3)in a period of the season Milan had about 14 playesr out for injures caused by the wrong preparation in the summer(n much of these were people like gattuso, nesta, dida, maldini etc.....

about the other things I read I disappoint..:I never said Milan this year is much stronger than liverpool or Milan has more chances to defeat liverpool...:D I said Will try to get back a cup already our..
the other thing is that u probably think we' r scared of you....well....ur totally wrong men..if u think that milan should be scared by the past u havent understood how is Milan..:) We show it in every CHamp.league we play..not just against Man u...

about the supporters....yes,u ll have more supoorters in Final in athens..but dont say that its cause ur better supporters or somethin like this...probably u don't remember that Yr £ is much stronger than euro,n so our people find more difficulties in buyin air n match tickets,n it will be a lot less for u...so please...dont start sayin things before knowin truth...

The Euro is the fastest growing currency in the world - because our pound is stronger has nothing to do with their value, they are being sold in Europe in Euros not pounds!. Italy is a lot closer to Istanbul and Athens than Liverpool anyway!

You just don't have anywhere near the fanbase of Liverpool, it is probably cheaper for Milan fans to get there than Liverpool fans. Our fans are greater in number, sing louder and are more colourful than the Milan fans. So don't even try and compare that one Milan fan. We outnumbered you 3 to 1 in Istanbul.

this is the formation I see us using in the final

                   reina

  finnan  carragher agger  riise

                    xabi

                  gerrard
pennant                      zenden

                        bellamy
           crouch

I think Bellamy can give Milan's defense a real headache, that plus I hope he can tire them out by halftime. By halftime Kewell In for Zenden and Mascherano por Pennant, changing the formation like this

                   reina

  finnan  carragher agger  riise

         mascherano      xabi

gerrard                        kewell

                        bellamy
           crouch

Kewell is the best choice we have for the left side yet I dont think he should start as he may not be match fit yet. He will come on after half time. Mascherano would come in to stop Milan from attacking and helping Xabi blocking attacks. In the final 10 minutes, Fowler in for Bellamy to score his last goal for liverpool :D

It looks as if Alonso is gonna be dropped in favour of Mascherano. This is probably our best option cos mascherano will be better suited to marking kaká. I def think kewell should get the nod but it'll probly be zenden on the left unfortunately cos he's useless.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

It's a tough one on the left. I'm not sure if Rafa thinks Kewell is ready or not in terms of match practice. I'm not convinced by Zenden, although if he does happen to be in the side I'm sure he'll give it his all. The only alternatives would be Arbeloa playing at left back and Riise left mid, or the even more unlikely alternative of having Agger as a left back with Sami in the centre - the latter I don't see happening to be honest, but you never know with Rafa!

I'd like to see Kewell get the nod, but it depends on his fitness, the forthcoming training camp in Spain will give Rafa a good indication of his fitness levels.
I just feel Riise is the most solid player to play left back, he gives us pace strength, aerial ability and balance. I think he's likely to play at left back because of the pace and speed of the Milan attack.

Interesting to read about Harry Kewell's return.

This mirrors two seasons ago, remember? Kewell had not played since Christmas, and Benitez then goes and puts him straight in the side for the Final. That was Bizzare.

And I hope he does not do that this time. To be honest, Kewell has not done enough to warrant an immediate starting place return. He's been injured for about 2 seasons, and has shown little good form, when he is fit.

we have to play the strongest side.

         Reina,

Finnan Carra  Hyypia/Agger  ardebola

Gonzalez  Alonso  Sissoko   Riise

               Gerrard   Kuyt

MAybe Crouch in there somewhere.

Not sure about Mascharano, he gives the ball away cheaply sometimes, and against Kaka, Pirlo and Guttuso, we will get punished severely.

Remember 2005 first half?

You think Agger should play left back?

Either that or one of our players has been sent off during the warm-up!

I think Rafa will be very cautious with his starting line up. I will be very surprised if he starts with 2 up front. I think he will load the midfield and hope to keep the game tight hoping for a mistake or a moment of Gerrard magic to pinch a goal.

Reina
Finnan
Riise
Carra
Agger
Kewell
Alonso
Mascher
Gerrard/Momo
Pennant/ Gerrard (I am unsure whats happened to Pennant, is he injured?)
Kuyt
