Lay off wayne rooney! - He's not to blame for hillsborough!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm sorry, but A lot of people in these forums just make me SICK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im a Liverpool fan, but reading certain things in the papers, the Sun newspapers' for example...  "JOKE" of an apology today to Merseyside people,to protect Wayne Rooney, for what they said to accuse Liverpool fans of certain things in 1989, was about 15 years too late!
Thats true, and me, being only 13 years old at the time, id not have the life experience to take it all in, the press reports etc.
But some of YOU posters on this site, people on merseyside (influenced by silly vigilante stories in the Liverpool echo) are just simply accusing Wayne Rooney, of being decietful, going behind peoples backs, and selling stories to the tabloids to rub it in!

LAY OFF WILL YOU FOR F***S SAKE!! The kids back will you!, he aint responsible for what happened in 1989, and the fears of some sort of backlash are just SCANDELOUS!

Let me point out some facts to you:

1. He was only 3/4 years old at the time, and he may of not been aware of all the was printed in the press at the time.

2. Piers Morgan, who was the editor for the Sun Newspaper at the time, and was ultimately responsible for printing that stuff, later moved to the Daily Mirror. how many people on merseyside have since bought that paper? ???? ???? ???? ???

3. HE's sold his story to the SUN, but is proceeding all proceeds to a local chairty, not a bad thing! Alder hey i think.

4. His agents, who controls what he does, are pro-active sports, or whatever it is called, decide what the boy does, make money out of him, and tell him who to sell stuff to etc etc. As far as I am aware, Kenny Dalgish is associated with the same orgainsation. Are people gonna start slagging him off too? ????

Get F*****g real will you!

And get over it.

It was an accident not meant to happen.
Dont take your frustrations and anger out on this poor kid

Get a life!

Agreed - excellent post mate.

The Sun are guilty of a whole list of things concerning both their news stories of the time and now the way in which they've tried to use Rooney as an olive branch between them and Liverpudlians.

Wayne Rooney is guilty of entrusting his affairs with people that seem content to put publicity before good sense, and nothing more as far as I can see.

He's a young lad with a lot to deal with, and I'm sure in 10 years he'll look back and realise what a gaff he's made. Face it, I'm sure most of the people on here made mistakes when they were 18, and just because he's probably as rich as all of us put together doesn't make him any less human.

Aim your anger at The Sun, where it's warranted, and not at Rooney. If you think he's out of order, then the best course of action is to not buy The Sun which will surely tell the paper how much harder they'll have to work to gain any kind of foothold in Liverpool.

Agree with the "Spirit" of the thread Hustler and like yourself can't help feeling people sometimes post certain comments just for effect ???

The issue is NOT about Wayne Rooney, the lad's been a  bit naive and allowed his agent's to drop an almighty bollock in seeling his story to that rag but I sense the negative reaction on Merseyside is not directed at Wayne but the paper and the events of the past. I've posted in other threads my feelings about their apology so no need to repeat myself.

Lets not allow this rag to pull another one on us and lose the debate. The HJC fights on many fronts for justice , the S*n newspaper and the articles published folowing the tragic events of April 15th 1989 just one avenue. Let us concentrate on the real issues and not be sidetracked by some clever marketing trick by the S*n ...............

Walk on ........

"Dad I'm doing an exclusive with the Sun"?

"Son that won't go down well in these parts"  Get the gist folks???

Isn't Wayne Rooney a Scouser...? Should he not know better? I'm afraid Rooney selling his story.. however misguided that decision was..has only highlighted how raw the wounds r for Liverpool people and Fans. If you expected the lad to be applauded.. well it ain't happening.. The scum has always been a racist, sexist and gutter press newspaper.. Hillsborough was only one of its many dispicable lies:(

Your ridiculous thread has just confirmed my opinion in fact it has indeed strengthened my resolve .Hustler you are the biggest  fool currently infecting this forum .and what I find most worrying is you actually believe in the shi*e you post

One question Hustler Rooney may have been young at the time but I am quite sure his parents recall the tragedy, and as for your  reference to get a life tell that to the people who lost loved ones  I am sure they would welcome your theory you sad little fu*k

What I find most annoying is that an out of towner has the audacity to suggest we forget about it  you in your sad little two horse town will never realise the depth of the feeling in Liverpool

Lives  old and young were wrenched from this earth in the cruellest of circumstances it simply is something we can never forget  it is burnt into our memories.

This is the first time I have replied to one of your posts ,most I wouldn’t credit with an answer but this is beyond contempt

There's not a lot in there Zara that I disagree with but your missing my point ?

If we are to villify Wayne Rooney then let's be FAIR and villify Michael Owen who wrote articles for the News Of the World (The Sunday Sun ? )

My point is lets not allow Rooney to bcome a smokesrceen that the S*n can hide behind and issue it's veiled apologies when we all know full well its about SALES  ???

Redbeergoggles.. looks like your goggles need changing??? Don't be so rude to a fellow poster.. make the argument ..ay?

Dalglish... Rooney's article has flared up a debate... He shouldn't have done it but he's not the problem  the Sun is.. my point is that I've never read it .. I only got the true gist of what was said on the LFC site.... I wouldn't buy the scum because it propogates stereo-types and creates divisions .. 1989 is another excuse not to read it ... but Rooney fuelled the money grabbing argument that most honest hard working people will be debating in Liverpool this week and beyond! He hasn't helped himself:(

Red Beergoggles, well said mate, i agree. how can any of us know what it feels like to have lost someone at Hillsborough, it hurt enough just being a scouser and a fan, and it still hurts.

Hustler, all accidents have a reason for happening, they dont just happen, there is always a cause so think before you speak. think how you would still feel if you lost someone and then had to fight to clear their name when a lie made available to millions of people tarnished them. i want you sit and think about a loved one, then try to imagine losing them, then imagine some sh*t being written about them, and then tell me you wouldnt be bothered for the rest of your life. thats how it feels for the families, and thats how it feels for scousers.

i have cousins the same age as Rooney who are not even involved with football but they know about what the paper wrote. sure he was badly advised but i think some people here are missing the point, the anger is directed mainly at the s*n and shreks advisors. im just as dissapointed with shrek as i was with owen and souness.

i no longer live in liverpool or england so luckily i dont even have to see the s*n laying around but i just went online to read the apology and people should be offended by what they wrote, only a complete t*t would think it was genuine.

even after 15 years  memories are fresh, i will never forget going to anfield early the next morning to lay flowers at the gates but i was able to walk straight into the ground and place them in the kop goal. as i was standing there i noticed a solitary guy on the kop in tears, this guy was inconsolible no matter what i said to him. Thats memories Hustler so dont tell me to get real and get over it, i wasnt even there, i cant imagine how it feels for the people who had tickets and who went, or for the families involved but it still hurts. think about it Hustler

It's not about blaming Rooney for Hillsborough, it's about the lad being from Liverpool and having morals, it's not like he needs the money that they'll offer him and he sound know better!!

Hustler at first I simply thought you were misguided youngster, now I know you are simply an idiot.

You simply can not defend the fact that Wayne rooney has sold his soul to the devil. In no way shape or form do people think it was Wayne on his own in a room who made the decision, he was ill advised, but that does not change the fact that he has done it.

People of Liverpool will NEVER EVER be able to think any better of that rag, which told of heroes who pulled friends and strangers alike from the vice like grip of death, and portrayed them as theives, degenerates and nothing more than animals.

Unlike many I dont wear the fact that I was there on my sleeve, however that day still gives me horrendous flashbacks, and I still have real nighmares about the faces of people I saw slowly and painfuly die on that day. I saw men risk their own lives to save these people, and then saw them peortrayed in the way that rag did.

You need to edit your post as well you idiot, the phrase get a life is totally inappropriate under the circumstances you stupid fool.

The biggest shock for me in this thread is that Michael wrote for the sun, is that true? I haven't read the sun since '89 and never heard any controversy (unlike Souness in 92).

If Michael Owen wrote for the sun, then I say "****** Michael Owen too" . I'd sell the ****** on the back of that.

Did Michael Owen write for the sun/news of the world?
