Less quality than mu? - Hell no!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

"It's certainly special. The Reds have less quality than Manchester United, but they're more physical," Ancelotti said.

WTF? We have less quality than Man.ure? That I have to disagree. Perhaps their top players like Ronaldo and Rooney (the way they are playing currently) are slightly above any of our own top players, but no way the rest of the team is better than ours!

Let's go down the team:

Goalie: Reina is on par, if not better than Van Der Sar. And Reina is only 23 I think? He will definitely get better with age. And no one is better than Pepe when it comes to penalty stops!

Defence: Carra-Agger definitely much better than Ferdinand-Vidic. Our c-halfs are more clinical and don't lose focus as much as MU's clowns. And in Agger, we have a defender who looks just as comfortable taking the ball into midfield as Ferdinand. Finnan? Better than whoever they have playing in RB nowadays. Riise/Aurelio. Better in an attacking sense than Heintze, but defensive wise probably not

Midfield: Gerrard-Alonso-Sissoko-Mascherano, 'nuff said. But flair-wise, still needs a lot of work to take on Ronaldo-Giggs. Pennant is finally showing promise though.

Attack: Maybe our weakest link. Kuyt-Crouch-Bellamy-Fowler have got their own individual strengths, but none of them are the complete deal yet. Still with exception of God, the rest are still relatively young, and will hopefully improve over time. Shrek is the only one worth mentioning here. Rest of MU's strikers are worse than our lot.

"We are not as good as Man U" but we had beat them before in the most cruciating way. The Italian is so arrogant never really learn their lesson. I'm sure they will have to eat their words again. :D

in all fairness guys the premier league table shows that we are not as good as man utd, thats the sad fact however we want to dress it up.

however on one off occassions we can be better than them, we can play better than them, but consitently we cant compete with them

There are several factors that make up a championship winning team, and luck is one of them. MU had all the luck in the Premiership this season. That and the Ronaldo factor. That is why it is so hard to take this season, as MU have IMHO the most ordinary team I have seen, except for Ronaldo and perhaps Rooney, to potentially win the title. They made a good start to the season, stayed clear of injuries during that crucial period and then just kept themselves going with a lot of luck and huge doses of confidence.

So while I concede MU's performances in the league were way better than ours, in no way do I concede their TEAM is better than ours.

LFC should stay out of it all.

All this "we're gonna do this or that" and the old "they are scared/lacking quality/a spent force etc..." bollox that Jose likes to pull.

They should stay quiet, be respectful and say only that "Milan are a good team" and do the business in Athens.

That's exactly right. That's why even if you can't understand some of Rafa's team selections and criticise him for his rotation policy, you can't criticise him as a person.

Quotes like:
'I don't like to talk about other managers, it should be about the players'
'Chelsea are a very good team, but we are prepared'

He is class, whatever you think of his rotation policy and zonal marking.

That's why i sometimes pity the chelsea supporters (the real ones), they have a good manager, but they constantly have to rationalise his deplorable behaviour. Jose Morinho is classless.

To come out and say the better team lost (again) just shows how little idea he has.

When asked about an upcoming opponent, simply do what Rafa does (it works best in a Spanish accent).

Just say:

"Dey are a good a squad!"

I'll probably hate myself for saying this, but at least Ferguson had the class to admit Milan were the better team. Mourinho is absolutely color blind. Perhaps he mixed up his colors when he said the team in blue were the only ones who wanted to win. He obviously meant red.

Can't see Mourinho staying on in Chelsea now. He has shown his bad side once too often. Roman wants a team that is loved by neutrals and fans alike. Mourinho is the main factor preventing that.

I must admit i haven't didn't watch any of the game last night but i have seen the goals. All of the goals even the ones AC scored at OT seem to have come from defensive lapses. I really cannot see us giving them those chances. Don't get me wrong i think they are a good team, but if their manager thinks we are not as good as MU at this moment in time he hasn't done his homework. Man U's defence right now is in tatters. Even the bitters put two past them. We on the other hand have mostly a full team and with Ronaldo being cuptied i think we can beat them. We already know how they work from the 1st half in Istanbul Benitez will go out with a formation to cope with that and win us the game.
