LIVERPOOL vs CHELSEA - CL SEMI-FINAL 2ND LEG, BABY!!!!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Mourinho is cheeky, nothing more I want to say about him.
Still can't calm down about the game after the sleep. I kept telling myself losing 0-1 away is not unacceptable and we can definitely come back to beat them at Anfield, but I really need more encouragement to look forward the 2nd leg game after our poor performance last night. :(
Anyway, at Anfield next week, Gerrard in the middle and no Zenden, please!!!

And agreed with Manhattan Project on his comparison of us playing against european and premiership teams. I think Rafa somehow may have more wits playing against an european team than against an premiership team. Don't know why. But considering this, if we progressed to the final, better meet Milan there. ???

For once, I will be willing Bolton Wanderers to kick seven shades of :censored: out of Chelsea at the weekend. With any luck, Maureeno will believe he is invincible and stick that cheatin', lyin' scum krunt Drogba up front, and he'll he lamped out of it spectacularly, fingers crossed for at least 6 months. I wouldn't normally wish that on any player, but if there are two players I'd love to see it happen to - One is Drogba, the other Robbie Savage !! :p
Every station I listened to last night and this morning said it - he's a diving, cheating scumbag. Shouldn't be allowed in the game, and if the ref had the balls, he's have booked him and Chelski up front would be sterile....
It's a pity 'cos he's wonderfully talented, but every Chelski scumbag who acts like that deserves a farkin' good hiding. It makes me sick. Even makes me wish the rugby would come around sooner 'cos there's none of that nancy-boy b0ll0x there

[quote] Tonight was the biggest example this season of how much we're missing a fit and firing Harry Kewell. He would've murdered Ferreira out there tonight

in our run to glory in 2005, we had rabbit-out-the-hat moments like against olympiakos and such. This time we've never had to come out and REALLY go for it when the chips are down, i mean we went to Barca and put in such a performance that we had the upper hand.....

a 1-0 loss away from home in Europe is generally considered a good result for the away team with the home tie to come, as ive said before....but this is Chelsea and they have a solid defence and we have to keep them quiet, its gonna be hard but it was never gonna be easy this tie was it? we can rise to the occasion, as we did in cardiff, as we did in 2005 run....its our time to stand up and be counted again!

btw have to say well done to our away support last night, could regularly hear u guys outsinging them even when they tried to drown you out with boos...excellent stuff, bring that passion on tuesday night and we could be in for something special again. BELIEVE!

The ref was atrocious and didn't give us a f#cking thing the entire game! He was suckered in to every single one of their fall downs and dives and Crouch was being penalised every 2 minutes just for winning ball.

Oh and I f#cking despise Drogba and Joe Cole. They should both have been carded as they were caught diving at least three times a piece.

Read through the aftermath of the match in this thread and dont feel i need to make comments about every player as most of done it pretty well.
What i would like to say is that i am surprised that not what person has mentioned Chelsea's tactics. I am gobsmacked at how a team with all that money, where the manager has been able to pick any player in Europe or the world that he wants - play football like that.
From the first minute if Chelsea player picked the ball up no matter where they were on the pitch they smashed it high and long for Drogba, ala Wimbledon in the 80's. Waiting for him to either win the header or for someone to pick up the second balls in dangerous positions. It worked a treat so Jose my be happy, but so am i, there is no plan b from them or creativity and at Anfield i would seriously play Hyypia and juat instruct him to win the headers and not let the ball bounce. Drogba's a handful but he can be contained.
Feel a bit sorry for Zenden btw, yes he is not good enough and his crossing and final ball could and should of been better, but nearly every time he worked a good position there was nothing in the box for him to aim at, so he was fighting a losing battle.
team for second leg.
Reina
Finnan
Carragher
Hyypia
Arbeloa
Pennant
Mascherano
Gerrard
Riise
Crouch
Kuyt

I know most will say Alonso should play but too often for me last night he was too slow with his passing and got caught in posession in dangerous areas, Mascherano wasnt fantastic last night but is a bit quicker and imo that will be vital in a game where time on the ball will be limited.

Momo wouldnt stay in front of the back four mate, he is not tactically clever enough.
Deffo Mascherano for me, although if he plays Alonso due to his better range of passing fair enough.
I just think Javier is quicker moving the ball and quicker covering ground than Xabi...so FOR THIS GAME the argie would get my vote.
