Not just the opponents box either...
Were things that unstable at the back that our primary goal threat (?) has to come and help out? I mean Rushie used to track back ffs. But not to the detriment of almost completely (oximoron's are in fashion again btw) obliterating our own attacking prowess *cough* up the other end. The counter was on and who's left up top? - Crouch with no one to feed off his hold ups...allowing possession to be squandered. Again. I truly though Rafa would have opted for Sami in this one...Agger was like a rabbit caught in the headlights tonight. Sad to say.
One thing ive noticed with Kuyt is, he seems very reluctant to attempt a snap shot, the first time effort. We seen Drogba attempt many times through the season, and again tonight..Rooney won the game last night with a similar effort. But Kuyt doesn't seem to have that predatory instinct on the end of his boots. Too many touches to be surefooted enough first before striking on goal, almost as if the lad is over compensating on the side of caution. Lacking confidence still...
Chelsea played this one like the away side tonight and fair credit to JM for sussing us out. But we look limp, lifeless and clueless in the final third, in particular the box. The only one who is more than capable of providing that specific threat will more than likely get overlooked again in the return as well.
