How long do you think it will take us to click into gear ? with a new manager revamped squad. Could we challenge in the first season. Could we grasp the holy grail,Is it to much to ask, what do you think?

I would say 3 seasons.

Realistically i think 4th and a good cup run is a realistic expectation this season. Anything more would be a bonus. I think we will definately improve upon last season both in terms of consistancy and confidence.

However it wouldn't suprise me if we improve much more quickly.

I think what alot of people fail to see is the good work Houllier done... there are alot of talented players and a very good squad there although i think we didn't see the best of some of players, some of it down to Houllier's management style.

In Owen, Kewell, Gerrard and Hyypia we have a core of players that are as good if not better than everything in europe. I'd say only Arsenal can say they have better players than those in the same positions.

We certainly have enough talent to challenge next season, so lets just wait and see. :)

Good post by.

Short but sweet. :)

Well I've just seen Greece become European Champions.. anything is possible .. but if the boss gets the players in the right frame of mind and playing like a team.. we could certainly challenge  ???  Winning it? Well at odds of 14-1 (Greece were 100-1) may be worth an optimistice flutter:cool:

Don't see us overcoming Arsenal's domination of the premiership. However I think we have a good chance in the Champions League where anything can happen. Winning that would certainly be enough for the first season :)

i think the best we could realistically hope for next season is 3rd in the league and quarter-finals of the champions league. i'd be happy with that. i'd also like to see the team allowed to express themselves more, rather than playing with caution, especially in home games. we became exceedingly dull to watch under houllier and many fans were driven away from even attending towards the end of the season. watching england in portugal reminded me of liverpool so much over the past couple of years.

fortunately, things appear to be looking up. new manager in, gerrard stays, owen to sign an extension, some of the dead wood out (mentioning no names). we have real reasons to be optimistic, especially with 2-3 more quality signings. it will take the manager a while to implement his style of play on the team, but if it gets results then i'll be happy. even if we finish 4th i won't be too displeased because arsenal, manure and chelsea will all strengthen. i just don't want to see us 30 points behind the winners and out of the title race by october.

roll on august 14th!

:)

Might take another season or two before we are realistic challengers but it's got to be better than last year.

Think Benitez looks a very good move.

As long as we play cracking football and look like candidates I think we should all be happy whether we win the league or not. I must say though that a trophy won would go a long way to intergrate Rafa into the club, imagine the reaction of the fans if he was to bring back the FA cup, that combined with some posistive football and no Biscan (hopefully, ive been praying every night)will set him up just right for a challenege the following season.
I havnt looked forward to a season like this for a long time and I quote 'BRING IT ON''
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

we couldn't ask for a much better start. the first four home games are man city, portsmouth, west brom and norwich. add this to spurs and bolton away before the monday night trip to old trafford and i see no reason why we shouldn't make a good start.

having said that, it would be just like us to drop points in those home games and thump man u away. :(
