i think it's very harsh to be having a pop at robbie tonight. he did ok, not bad when you consider what a lazy game it turned out to be. we rested some key players and didn't really have to push men forward and provide service for the strikers. not exactly prime scoring time is it? if fowler had the same number of games as crouch i reckon he'd score just as many

still, it doesn't matter - we're in the semi's and i'm genuinely confident we'll dump jose & his rentboys out on their @rses over 2 legs

I kinda agree wae Ciggy here!!!

Ok Fowler did not play like we know he can but :

A - When was the last time u seen him play atleast 45 mins 4 us (lack of match fitness  was his problem + that is MANAGEMENT'S fault)
B - When was the last time he featured in a fast flowing game like u get in the CL
C - WHO setup Crouch 4 his goal??

good result, we did what we had to do.......control the game, not take risks and try and win it if we can....

pity about the sending off though, there was no need for it, but who cares anyway it was a well worked goal. Crouch did well to get to the great cross by riise, and fowler cut it back nicely for the finish.
There was a similar argument over fowler today in the pub, his goal scoring ratio is the best of our strikers this season....but he hasn't had enough games. I don't think he has done that well this season, but he hasn't disgraced himself at all....he's playing in a different era. id like him to score once more when it really matters for a final hurrah, would be a nice send off....

But Chelsea it is in 2 weeks...Essien is missing so that's a bonus, i think this time we really do need an "away" goal.....and if we can draw or win...orgasmic.

Hugely disappointed we didn't see more from Fowler. Some great touches and vision, but mostly he was too far away from Crouch, and wasn't really involved as much as he could and should have been.

And now I can't help but wonder if that's the last time we'll see Robbie Fowler play at Anfield. A big performance tonight, coupled with Bellamy's injury, could've really made Rafa's selections interesting, but he didn't grab the bull by the horns in the way I hoped he would.

Yer havin a laugh aren't ya? The only attacking player who done anything on our side was Pennant. It was a flat and uninspiring performance in a game which we had already won a week ago.

The bashings the players are taking after this already is absoloutely :censored: insane. Honest to god, the lack of knowledge on this site is an embarressment at times it really is.

Stu - I've stood side-by-side with you in dozens of threads over Fowler, going back long before Rafa brought him back to the club.

My point is that - obviously - Fowler's opportunities are going to be very limited between now and the end of the season. If Rob's to have any future at the club, he has to make things happen, even in nothing-y games like tonight. Rafa's dropped him like a stone all season regardless of how many chances he's made in a match, or how many goals he's scored.

Tonight Rafa will have sent him onto the pitch looking for a reason to keep him. Unfortunately, at times his sluggishness and a bit of uncharacteristic sloppiness probably served more as reasons for Rafa to let him go.

And that kills me, because I know the gaffer should have played him far more this season. And even in a below average team performance, he did show glimmers of vision and skill. It's just that it could be - huge injury crisis notwithstanding - the last European fixture Robbie Fowler will play in for LFC. I so wanted him to kick a*se tonight.

One moment of Fowler magic changed a certain 0-0 into a 1-0 win. :D

Bad strikers wouldn't have picked that loose ball.

was i the only one watching on sky who noticed fowler tickle salcido's scrotum at about 17/18 mins when they were tussling before a liverpool corner?! hahahaha the commentators unsurprisingly said nothing and the camera quickly panned away! hahaha

Lack of match fitness shown. But he still shown quality on occassions. Skill, touches, passes, intelligence, one two's and again his movement absoloutely stood out like a sore thumb. You could see the look on his face when he was in the right positions an not recieving the ball.

He can't do it on his own, I know as a player mate, when the games flat no matter how good you are its very very hard to go on the pitch and stand out and make things happen. Anyone who's played the game knows that.
