IF Liverpool finish 3rd and win the Champions League (again), is there doubt this will be progress and the best season under Rafa?

*team that knocked Liverpool out in brackets

2004/5

Premiership : 5th
Champion League : Winners
Carling Cup : Runners-Up (to Chelsea)
FA Cup : 3rd Round (Burnley)

2005/6

Premiership : 3rd
Champion League : Last Sixteen (Benfica)
Carling Cup : 3rd Round (Crystal Palace)
FA Cup : Winners

UEFA Super Cup : Winners
FIFA CWC : Runners-Up (to Sao Paolo)

2006/7

Premiership : 3rd (current)
Champion League : QF/SF/Winners?
Carling Cup : QF (Arsenal)
FA Cup : 3rd Round (Arsenal)

Community Shield : Winners

And of course what will be minimum requirement/aim for Rafa next season? Premiership runners-up? Champions? I said that Houllier needed to make a real title challenge in his 3rd or 4th season so unlesss Rafa should be cut some slack for winning trophies then he should surely be subject to the same timescale for success? Houllier didn't exactly leave Liverpool potless as it were, even if Rafa has landed a much bigger pot (or maybe two......................)

Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

To be honest, even if we win the CL, I feel like this season we've flattened out a bit.

The squad is tons better than in 2005, no question, but without quality players on both flanks, the balance is off, and there simply aren't enough goals in the side for the amount of possession we have in games.

The next step is to get to the last month of a season with a genuine chance of landing the Prem title. We've been a great cup side for years now, but until that converts to a sustained league challenge, it won't represent forward movement.

Houllier had 2 great strikers in Owen and Fowler and was never close to wining the prem if we had rafa and this team we would have won the legue in the houllier era. The reason we are not is the top sides have also inproved so much. In years past 77 to 82 points won you the legeue now it's risen to 85 to 90 and over.
