Conspiracy theories - More european crowd trouble

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Postby Ace Ventura » Thu Apr 05, 2007 8:25 pm

Ok this may be more than a little far fetched, but just watching the Sevilla-Spurs game and yet more trouble in the stands with the bizzies wading in with batons being used.
Motson mentioned that there was rumours of unprovoked attacks from the police before kick off, similar to what happened with united last night.

Are the other european major cities trying to either incite our fans or portray the age old image of english hooliganism to still be alive ?

We all know that we are now starting to take europe by storm again and appear to be getting stronger every season-is this a case of them panicking and doing what they can to try and get us banned again ?

Might sound pathetic but i wouldnt put anything past the corrupt world of football.

What a load of bulls'ite!!

Totally pathetic!

The UTD fans last night and Spurs fans tonight have been a disgrace to England and their clubs end of story!

Did you watch the footage of the Spurs game of the trouble?
The hooligans were ripping out seats and throwing them at police! The police did their job and hit the scumbags with batons!

Its all well and good protecting and standing up for your fellow countrymen when they are in the right in fact its admirable!
To come out with that post above is insane...

FACT...SOME ENGLISH FANS ARE NOTHING BUT HOOLIGANS UNFORTUNATELY!
Most English fans are decent people of course!

But because of their past violent behaviour in recent times in Europe they have a reputation which can only be blamed on themselves!

There is no conspiracy or anti English agenda anywhere, some so called fans just ruin their own countrys reputation because they are thick and arrogant scumbags!

I hope both Man UTD and Spurs get punished!
I just pray that our great club LFC does not suffer the backlash of a certain UEFA punishment.....

IT WILL BE A SAD DAY IF LFC SUFFER BECAUSE 'ENGISH' FANS CANT BEHAVE ABROAD AND RESPECT OTHER COUNTRIES!

I don't believe in that conspiration theory. Just saw how the Tottenham fans were battooned and I was thinking welcome to Spain, meaning that I've been in that situation more than once -- long story.

In Spain the brightest students of a class do not become a police precisely, and there are specific cities in which the police are especially brutal, like Zaragoza. They battoon easily, and if you fight back the riot police comes with the guns of rubber balls, which are more dangerous than the accurate battoons since the balls bouncing are unpredictible.

I don't know in Brussels, or Austria, or Sweden, but at least here we want the english clubs in the competitions. Winning a tournament without english clubs is watered down, and we don't want watered down competitions.

We didn't want back then when the ban was applied neither. Those were dark years for football. We sure wanted the hooliganism coming to an end, but wanted the english clubs playing.

Besides, as I've posted in another thread, right now if any country has to be banned, it should be Spain and Italy first. Especially Italy, because England has done a LOT to finnish with violence in their football.

So no worries Ace ventura, that was simply the Sevilla police for you, I could make a whole thread of my experience with them in many away games.  :)

As said in the first line....it may be more than a little far fetched.
It just seems a bit strange that its happened two nights running.
And on both, you can cleary see fans trying to get out of the way, looking scared and bemused.
There are obviously still many hooligans that are intent on ruining matches and our fans reputations.
But that doesnt give police the right to blatantly beat the sh!te out of them, at the slightest hint of trouble.
Barry our Liverpool supporters went to Old Trafford in the semi's of the F.A cup last season, and ripped up seats and far worse, yet no battons, the game ended without trouble with the police, which set of police forces do you feel handled things better.
Ok i am probably way of with the conspiracy theory remark, but something needs to be done about over zealous policing.
Not everyone being tw@tted is a hooligan.

Also with the italians yesterday, how come it was just the english that the police waded into ?
Both sets of fans were equally as guilty.

You're right about that Ace Ventura mate. Sabre for one, will be grateful if they did something about some methods used by the police (bizzies?) here.

I also think that English fans are sadly paying a reputation of violent past unfairly. ANYBODY, that stares at the english football with some depth will know that England has sorted out a lot of troubles in their football. But this policemen don't have time for that and their superiors are probably playing their money in the casino so they still battoon and hit at the slightest chance. They like it.

Also, I didn't think this theory was yours, as I've read it somewhere else aswell so it doesn't harm to discuss it!

No its not a sarcastic response...its the way i see it!

I grew up in Belfast and was sick seeing people on TV complaining that their son was injured or killed while rioting.Their poor son was bludgened or killed by a plastic bullet.....I never had any sympathy for any of them..sorry!
Its simple,if you dont want to get hurt...DONT RIOT!
Unfortunately some are to thick to grasp this!

Back to the UTD match..
The police were 100 in numbers, there were 4500 UTD fans. Not all were rioting but a good few hundred charged at police. What were the police to do?If they tried to hold them off with riot shields the vast numbers of UTD fans would have crushed them against the flimsy perspex petition that eventually would have gave way! Then what would have happened? We would have had thousands of Roma fans and UTD fans rioting on top of 100 crushed Italian police...that would have been great yes fantastic for football!

The police held them off the only way possible with force...What is worse a few scumbag UTD fans crying the next day with a few stitches or 10,20 maybe more dead??
Zero tolerance is the only way to deal with hooligans, just because they take no sh'it on the continent does not mean they are wrong.....maybe it means English police are too soft!
'Stop chucking that seat old chap' is not a good way to deal with thugs a baton on the head is much more their language!

Lets just hope there is no more trouble which English fans abroad in the near future otherwise the whole league LFC included may suffer!

Don't forget, there was a certain disaster in Liverpool's history in 1985. The circumstances weren't as similar, but some fans were still rioting. Do you not sympathise with them?

On Wednesday night, the United fans were initially attacked by the Roma fans. They had missiles thrown at them and the riot police did sweet fuck all. Their instinctive response was to charge the fans, then the riot police joined in.

Also the riot police were only on United's side of the fence, this says to me the police were just looking to fight them from the start.

Liverpool played in Rome in 2001, and if you were there or remember the match, you will also remember the trouble, same as 1984 when you played them. Therefore you will know how corrupt, dirty and cheating the Italians are.

This sounds too familiar to me. And I agree with you on that. But Football is different, while I know what do I have to do to avoid plastic bullets -- avoid troublesome demonstrations, sometimes I've been caught in the middle of a police charge while watching football, or outside the stadium

Funny you should mentio this Ace, I was thinking exactly the same thing after I read about what happened with Sevilla and Spurs.

The crowd trouble in Turkey and Italy in recent years has been a disgrace, but nothing was ever done and It wouldn't suprise me in the slightest if things were starting to go that way...

The Italian game is clearly losing money and if it carries on it wouldn't suprise me to see them slip into a similar standard as the German league.
