Right for a start I respect everyones veiws on MO, however the peopel who claim he had a poor tournament are joking. He worked his socks of in all Englands games after all how the hell do you think that Rooney was able to have so much space and thus be so destructive. Baros has definite potential as obviuolsy does Rooney but until the day day I see the scoring figures to match MO they cannot be placed in his class. MO won the cup final against Arsenal on his own and he has provided our only real goal threat for England and Liverpool for at least two seasons. If you want the player to carry on in that way he is going to burn out soon and be of no use or worth to the club. Yes MO may have lost a yard of pace but that is down to the above, as the only goal threat especially for Liverpool he had to play even when not fully fit. If you want to find out what happens to even the greatest of players when they are forced to play before they are physically raedy I suggest you read J.Burns Hand of God, its astonishing the pressure and the lengths at which clubs go to and if you think because its Diego its not the same think again. We have put years on MO with the pressure and the way we play and I for one am glad that finally there are players around him at club and international level who can finally share that burden. If it means that MO is no longer in the spotlight and the plump scally grabs the headlines so be it. MO is a top class player, will always be and more importantly a model professional for the young lads in Liverpool to aspire to.
The best bit of advice on this thread is about a more creative midfield, Ive seen Rosiky talking about playing for us and he would be exactly what we need with Ballack alongside Stevie G in the centre Kewell and Rosiky, Cisse and Owen up front. Awesome.
P.S the only predictable thing about MO is the feeling you get when he has a chance, you just know he is gonna score. Thats why its such a big surprise when he actually misses.
Peace.

I think we might see fire-works from all 3 of our strikers next season. It's fantastic. It will do Mikey the world of good to have someone (Baros) breathing down his neck for a starting birth + i believe Benni will rotate his players if we progress in Champions League & the other cups.

It is silly to claim that Owen allowed Rooney to shine. He would have shone in any partnership. It is about time that people get judged by their true abilities, not by their names or former accomplishments. I am a Liverpool supporter, not an Owen supporter. If Owen is not good enough for Liverpool, he is not good enough. He should never be selected just because he is Mr. Owen. Pure and simple.

If rooney would have shone in any partnership why didnt he do anything with everton last year, its the same old story not giving owen any credit, he set up rooney for 3 of his 4 goals, and also worked his socks off giving rooney loads of space

I agree if Owen is not on good enough form he should not be in the team but do you really think Rooney would have shined alongside Heskey or Vassell. I very much doubt it. MO's reputation has defences basing their tactics on him before they even step out on the pitch. Why are we knocking Owen anyway, would you prefer to see him in another shirt. Its time to take stock with him I understand that but I for one feel that we are a better side with him in it. His all round game is way above all the other strikers at Anfield and if his scoring record means nothing, which are his previous achievements , then how do we judge strikers?
Although Banana your right he should, like everyone else, deserve his place and not just on the back of his name. Obviously if there was a prolonged period where he didnt look like himself then maybe its time to think again but nothing I have seen at the moment makes this look likely to occur in the near future. Im not president of the MO fanclub and never really felt the way towards as I did Robbie but he is class, the best WE have and I bank on him scoring a shed load of goals next year.

we have to reallistic owen as had his day. It's time for a change. On his day Owen can be unstopable but let's be honest how many times doe's he do it. For the last two years his body language as said it all . If we could sell him for 15 million i would take it would you ? :) :) :) :)

Are u mad kenco???

How would you feel, a world class finisher such as Owen living off scraps under houllier?

I would look and be pretty ****** off aswell, but under Benitez he will get proper service so he can do the damage in the box.

No doubt he has lost some pace but if we start playing short passes into him instead of 40 yard balls he will be lethal.

There was a guy on youreon skysports reckons his da,a cabbie drove Owen to highbury today.

I dont believe it for a second but just think how lethal he would be for them.

When we start playing some proper football for a change he will score goals for fun.

If we did sell him would you really be that happy? ???
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Let all three (or four incl. FSP) have a fresh start. I doubt very much Rafa will keep a player based on reputation alone. I do agree Owen is world class and services to him during the last 2 years has been appalling and I can only guess with proper delivery into the box Owen will find another level. He do need to feel interested on the field again as many time during the season he has let his head dropped (when being deployed as a lone striker). I don't care if Owen put in 30 goals a season so long as his presence can help Cisse and Baros finding the net regularly. It's TEAM over INDIVIDUAL!
