Bad Bob wrote:Well and truly flavour of the month at this point.  It's funny, every few months these boards clamour for another Spurs striker.  Berbatov has now replaced Defoe.  Before that it was Mido and before that Keane.  But I just don't see it.

First off, Spurs won't sell him for anything less than silly money (a la the Manc bid for Carrick) which we will never offer.  Second of all, let's see if he can keep up the pace, shall we?  Mido looked a great prospect this time last year but has since faded significantly (and drifted off people's wishlist as a result).  Most importantly, I think John Craig's spot on when he says Berbatov's quality but not exactly what we need.

Yet again another excellent post.

The fact is though, Defoe, Berbatov and Keane are all better than what we have here. All of these strikers are better than Kuyt and Crouch and are probably all on par with Bellamy.

None of them however are good enough to be the focal point of an attack of a team in the top four.

Berbatov is a very good player but is being vastly overated by people simply because he's hit a bit of form in europe against poor sides and scored a few goals against poor sides in the league. How many league goals does the lad actually have?

The answer... less than Kuyt who has a pathetic 9.

After seeing Lennons dire performance tonight against Chelsea i wouldn't have him near LFC, he must've lost the ball about 15 times. i'd rather get Ribery in a swap deal for Cisse.

Whether its Berbatov or whoever, I keep saying Crouch will go in the summer.

Lennon would get the nood for me way before wright-phillips or pennant.Lennon is class, lost it a few times tonight but hes young and has to learn alot, remember christiano ronaldo a few years back,he was a nobody but now alot of people are calling him the best in the world(nowhere near it)..Lennon will be better than ronaldo imo and just looking at him tearing down the sidelines is magic, and he is the player that is missing for us along with a good striker.

Better than Ronaldo?  Thats a bold statement.  Ronaldo hasnt peaked yet and is getting better.  He does things with a ball which only a few players can do.

Bit harsh really.. all players have a stinker every now and then.  Lennon is up there with the best wingers in the premiership and is still young.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I would love to get lennon, as for getting rid of crouch i would like to keep crouch as he gives us a differnt option.
Crouch is 25 and if we could get him stroger on the ball no defence could handle him.
But IMO we do need to get a natural goalscorer

Lennon still has a lot to prove for me in terms of his end product. He is hit and miss, no doubt about it, but which player isn't at 19? I think the flaws in his game can be coached out of him, and once they are what's going to be left is one seriously gifted player.

To be honest, if he played as well in every game as he'd played in some, then people would be talking about him in the same breath as Ronaldo, and we wouldn't have a chance of getting him. I think Spurs signed him for £1m. He'd go for £10-15m now.

I'll agree with that St Mike.

I think even this season Lennon looks a lot better than last season.  At the moment he looks like Ronaldo did a few seasons ago.  The talent's clearly there, but the end product often isn't.  His pace is frightening and he has a trick, but at the moment he can't cross consistently good balls and he's not really a goal threat himself.

At the moment it's a case of who's willing to take a punt on him for 10-15 million and hope he makes the next step.

I think he is worth the gamble, at the minute other that gerrard there is no-one in the team who when he has got the ball at his feet, your on the edge of your chair because you think something going to happen.

Also it would be nice to have a player who can take players on

Lennon would be no gamble, even a blind man can see he will be world class one day, he would walk into our team atm.
