i told him he can approach us and ask to come back and we will decide.

if you get banned from your local and want to go back you ask the landlord, if you just walk in and order a beer you will be kicked out again

no different here

No one says "He's not good enough. He'll never be" and sounds as convincing as he does :D

Haha, he will be reading this fuming, if/when he comes back he will explain in detail why he is right.

Joey Barton is technically better at leathering taxi drivers than Stevie G, thats about it though.  :D

Watching United tear Bolton a new one I said to a mate I f#cking hate them but they play boss football, I can hold my hand up and say that truthfully because as a Liverpool supported I've been brought up to recognise good football when you see it. Manure played without a recognised striker but the difference is their movement off the ball is exceptional and they've got pace to burn in attacking areas.

Yesterday was not good football, far to often we break and have one player on the ball and one will make to the edge of the 18 yard box before we lose possession. If you look at United on saturday they have 4 or 5 players breaking there neck to get in the box and more often than not they not only get there they score. Folwer's header was our one real chance yesterday.

Is it any coincidence that we're not scoring goals when we've got 8 players on the pitch who, by trade, are defensive minded? I said this earlier in the thread but we had five defenders (one playing as a winger/midfielder), two defensive midfielders and a goalkeeper on the pitch. The only attacking players were Gerrard, Bellamy and Kuyt. Is it any wonder that our attack seemed gutless when the team was loaded with defensive players against a team that is struggling to score goals? We have too many defenders and not enough players with flair and creativity.

This summer is so vital, I know we say that every season and we have done since the last time we won the league. We need to make big signings who'll go straight in the team, :censored: the cups next season we have to sustain a real threat and get out the traps straight away. You get 8 or 9 wins in the first 12 games and your away.

Houllier esque signings are nots what is needed I just hope Rafa and the new board realise this. If squad players leave like Zenden leave then replace them with a youngster we already have, as 3rd choice in position if we got down to the bear bones you give them a go, and as kids they get a lot of slack. there is no point spending money say on a midfielder when we have a massive numbers of them. We HAVE to spend money on first teamers, players who will appear week in week out.

As for a starting eleven next season god knows who we will get but the following players we have now could be in a championship eleven or sixteen:

Reina, Finnan, JC , Agger, Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Garcia, Kuyt, Crouch , Garcia (probably missed somone off this list so dont hang me)

This summer is a summer off, tiredness wont be an excuse, lets hope we pull it off because if we dont despite the success in Istanbul and possible success in Athens it will all be for nothing. The League should be our absolute number one priority.

In terms of whether Rafa can bring us number 19 or not, I think if you'd asked this question at the end of the 00/01 or 01/02 seasons after the superb treble and 2nd place finish with GH at the helm, the same people that are saying "yes" today would've said yes back then as well (go on, be a man, admit it!).

It's not just about personnel, it's about systems.  You can't set out your stall to contain teams in the Premiership as you do in Europe.  You MUST focus on your attacking system in the Premiership and in nearly 3 seasons we haven't shown we're anywhere near developing a tactic that really has a go at teams.  It IS possible to mix fantastic organisation with real attacking threat and if Rafa throws off the shackles and shows he can throw caution to the wind we can win No 19.

Until then we'll just have to be content with a few more European Cups! :D

He has to get rid of the chains.  Going forward and attacking in numbers doesnt suddenly mean we will concede loads of goals.  Utd are good at the back and attack all the time.  Every game we should go into with the attitude of scoring as many as possible.  Other than v the other 3 at the top we have better players than our opponents, so why be cautious?

Say about 150mil we need 2 class wingers (simeo, lennon,Jwaqen Alves)take your pick. and two strikers one needs to be fast and creative say Tevez who i think is class in the making he really loves to run and beat a man and we just dont have that. And the outher needs to be a proven 15-20 a season goal scorer (Eto,Villa,Berbatov,) who knows we may even have a chance at Henry this summer.

How far are we? well..I gues the table doesnt lie this time. Not sure about Arsenal with a fit Henry, but we far off the first two. We have mostly squad players compared to class. A striker in the mould of Villa/Eto'o is a must, playmaker a must and a speedy left winger is also a must. It hurts to see us huffing and puffing against the likes of Villa while the Scum walk over the likes of Bolton.
