Now dont get me wrong, im all for helping out others but why is it every single year we do Comic Relief and Children in Need and everyone gives there money and raise millions to help out in what way we can but EVERY year it doesnt seem to make any difference? Sure now and again we see where we have made a little difference but surely after all these years it can be confirmed that our money doesnt mean a thing !!
The same thing will go on again next year and the year after and the year after that (add as many and the year after that as you like) my point being when will we really start seeing results?

You are right mate.Africa is in a worse state now than when the west first started pouring aid money in forty years ago.

What else can we do though? It just seems so much money for so little reward.More Africans are dying now than in the eighties ffs.

i dont give to charity, the money that does go to africa, very little will actually reach the people that need it, the main problems with africa is corrupt governments that filter any aid away for themselves.

while there are greedy people in the world the full aid will never get through.

charity begins at home and while there are people in my own family who may need help, thats where it goes

Its a fair point, donated to African nations should surely be the AID itself. Giving money, large parts of it ends up in the hands of corrupt governments.

I just feel its a great shame that so many people in this country are acknowledging the troubles in africa and trying to do there bit but in reality nothing is happening. Our money isnt going where it should be. Like I stated, we see the small parts of our money going somewhere but the money we are actually raising should have stabalised a majority of Africa and yet its worse off now than it was then (as Greenred pointed out). No money from me next year I want results !

That money would be put in better use at Home (UK) Raise it for the National health service, or abused kids etc. We always do these comic relief things every year which is a good idea. Didnt Bill gates donate 40 billion to wiping out diseases related in and around Africa and the world. I think charity needs to start at home and raise theses funds for our own people also.

Thats really annoyed me reading that actually.

Our money goes in the right direction but unfortunately is subject to the rules of the country it enters!We as a nation with regulations and taxes must respect other nations and their laws even if they are primative and unfair.

Only a sheltered mind would say that £65million does not make a difference....Of that 65 yes a lot is skimmed off by 3rd world governments to feed fatcats...this is wrong but also a fact of life and the way our wicked world works....That part of it,is out of our hands!

Im not ashamed to say that comic relief made me cry last night...............Watching a WOMAN weep with joy because she had a mosquito net that cost £2.50 that will save her childrens lives from Maleria makes all the tax etc. seem unimportant! Watching Ant and Dec in a tinhut ghetto telling us that a measly £90 can build a toilet for 10,000 people makes me happy!

barry for every one person who benefits there are millions who dont.

i know you wont like this but i will say it even though it simplifies things, yes there are millions of starving people in the world, and yes sometimes it is out of their control, i.e the weather doesnt help with crop production etc. but if you cant afford to feed your children then dont have any. the money would be better spent on education rather than just giving, you know the saying give a man a fish etc.

its the philosophy of suffiency economy mate, they need to help themselves, they need to stop adding to the problem, its no good us throwing money at the problem when they just keep creating a bigger problem.

every time we send money to these countries it takes the responsibilty away from their own governments and that is wrong

£125 per head for each living UK resident?Excluding all the dole sponging refugees that drive taxis!Id rather my money hit Africa than the East of London....

Money does make a difference, but unlike you im not going to be swayed by Television, im going to look at facts. Our money raised by the last decade or so shouldnt have any sanitation problems. I watched Comic Relief and saw ant and dec in there little documentary, but the fact is that documentary shouldnt exist, our money should have erased that problem but it hasnt. All the years weve been fund raising and every year we do bloody well and raise a hell of a lot but even now, in the year 2007 people cant have a proper sh.ite ! Good to know our moneys been spent so well isnt it?

thats the problem mate, how do you stop them or sterelise them, the money should be used for that purpose to lesson the crisis, like i say mate its very simplified, i know its harder to do than just say it, but thats the fact.

to be fair what good is a mosquito net when you have 12 kids to feed

I guess thats true!! It comes down to education as well..its a long road that no one wants to drive!!Really sad me thinks when we can throw billions of our cash at something that means nothing but unrecognised national glory!Who really cares about 2012?usa WILL CLEAN UP ANYWAY!

It's a waste of money to give aid to Africa.

It almost certainly will not reach the most vunerable people, such as women, kids and the sick and elderly.

Look at Zimbabwe/Rhodesia. A decent country ruined by a madman.

Where's the international condemnation? Where is Bono? Where is Geldof?

Where is the "Concert For Zimbabwe/Rhodesia Freedom?"
