The famous number nine - Rush, fowler, cisse ....................

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Leonmc0708 » Wed Jun 30, 2004 3:45 pm

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed on the official website liverpoolfc.tv that skipper Steven Gerrard will wear the number eight shirt next season and new signing Djibril Cisse the number nine.

Gerrard, formerly number 17, will wear the shirt number vacated by Emile Heskey, while Cisse will take over the number 9 from El Hadji Diouf.

Previous players to wear number nine for Liverpool in the Premiership are Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and previously Keegan in the old first division.

Is this a sign then that El Hadji will be on his way out of the club, (fingers crossed) and onto pastures new?

He has been such a ferking let down in the red shirt! yeah i know he has been played out of position, but in general his passing, vision is poor! hopefully someone will come up with 3-4 million to take Diouf off our hands!

Benitez tried to sign Diouff in 2002,so there maybe hope for El Hadji yet.

sigh...only GH will pay such big money to bring him here and put up with his attitute for so long...he's not worth 1/5 of what we paid him for and he will look for a big golden handshake before he leave the exit door.

Sometimes it takes a good manager to get the best out of certain players. Houllier wasn't a good manager. Perhaps Benitez could squeeze out the talent that Diouf has. Saying that though, I still think he'll leave. Any fool can see he's not a typical Liverpool player and probably never will be.

It's not so much about his ability, it's his attitute on the pitch that p1ssed me off

Hopefully Diouff will be the only stand-out bad player to wear the 9 shirt.
