Javi alonso - + any other rumours?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well, here we go, we're in silly season again now the Euros are done (or atleast they are for me). Was watching Euro Report on Sky Sports news this morning. Apparently there is a lot of talk in Spain linking Alonso with a move to Liverpool. According to Guillerme Ballague (Sky Sports broadcaster + friend of Benitez) the player was supposedly on his way to Madrid but they won't pay the asking price. I don't know much about Alonso except that he plays centre-mid, gets box to box but likes to sit quite deep and start attacks.

Any other transfer rumours? why not stick them onto one thread? Is that a good idea Supersub/JBG? Otherwise we will end up with umpteen new threads every time there is a whisper from the press.

I'm still buzzing from the Stevie news! :D

Yeah I've heard that there may be a player + cash deal involving Didi Hamann... this would be an excellent signing imo as he was one of only two German players to come out of the tournament with there reputations enhanced.. the other being the left back Lahm.

Another player I'd love to see at Liverpool is the Portugese centre back Carvaliho. I can only imagine a centre half partnership between himself and Ayala. Incidentally, I was watching Sky Sports News at the weekend and I thought I say something on the scrolling banner about Ayala confirming that reports linking him to Liverpool were true, and that he felt he owed himeself to spend sometime palying in England.

P.S. Before anybody jumps on his post saying to stop speculating etc., it's all just rumour and feel happy being able to indulge in some light hearted transfer gossip now that Stevie is sorted. :)

ballack would be a good signing. a two-footed creative player who times his runs into the penalty area superbly. he showed us in "that match" back in 2001-2002. bayern are going through a period of transition and would probably sell if the right offer came along. i think ballack is 28 so he has a few good years left in him yet. :)

How much are they going to want for Ballack? He's the star of German football and will not come cheap. He's got undeniable skill and ability but I suspect he could be moody and only play when he wants to. I players who you know are going to give their all every match they play. Saying that I'd certainly be happy to give him a go next season!

I would love too give him a try we already have a player who doesn't give his all in the middle of the park ie:Danny Murphy and Ballack is by far a better player than Murphy don't you agree fivecups

Yeah Ballack in a swap deal with didi would be class buziness. We need a top class centre half with pace tho big time and a keeper. What do people think about Valencia players coming? Thats what happens normally when a manager from a succesful team leaves for another club. Oh god please let it be Aimar please. Is it all awaiting questions about the investment coz if we are waiting for this money it will put us behind in relation to other clubs as a deal like the one they are talking about takes time and it seems to be nowhere as yet. If everything goes to plan I really believe this season could be one of the best in the premiership but I worry about the financial side of things. Outside investment is not guarenteed.
On a lighter note I have several friends in Spain and apperently Benitez is top drawer they likened it to Wenger leaving the ******. Well its better than what my French buddies told me about Houllier apperently his reputation back home when he joined us was like that of Graham Taylor ( for obvious reasons I kept that quiet at the time).
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

I agree he'd cost a lot of money but everybody is shouting about how much we need 3 or 4 top, if not world, class players. These kind of footballers don't come cheap, if you want the best, you pay for the best. I'd prefer to pay £15+millnion on a player who we know can do it, that £4-5million on another player with "potential".

I would prefer to see two big buys with SG staying and Cisse coming and Milans form at the Euros a big midfielder and a big defender would do the job nicely.

We have potential players that do need to be looked after but also some dead wood that needs to go.

Ballack would be superb he would fit in nicely with SG plus he adds some heading power as it looks like Benny will use wingers.

benitez's reputaion should surely be a big factor in attracting established big name players to liverpool football club. he knows how to handle his players. compare this to houllier, who brought relative unknowns, built them up, labelled them as the next "big thing" and then saw most of them flop or rot on the bench.

I've heard rumours coming out of Germany that Ballack, who has been unhappy at Bayern Munich since his move from Borussia Dortmun, is keen to move to the premiereship and has said that Liverpool or Arsenal are his preferred destinations.

I've also heard that Depor's Juan Carlos Valeron will be coming to Liverpool in a cash + player deal with Bruno Cheryou and £6m pounds heading the opposite way.

bear in mind these are only rumours but if either of those two come I'll be in delerium.
