Ditto, a nice early goal then pressing with counter attacks with some 'intelligent' passing.

I think Barca will struggle with the size of our pitch as its going to make their game a hell of alot harder to play, but they are still going to threaten the boys just have to make sure they stand up in midfield again and keep control.

This might be a dumb question but dont all pitches have to be the same size?  wouldn;t seem fair if  a club was able to play on a bigger or smaller pitch.  I am guessing that instead it means that it has something to do with our defensive back line?

I would think counter attacks would be the easiest way for us to score at Anfield.  Barca is going to field a team and play like they need at least 2 goals, and if they play overly aggressive, hopefully we will use that against them.

great result, momo was incredible especially in the second half, half way there and Id fancy some form of a result at Anfield. People can say barca were there own worst enemy with the infighting etc but they are still top of La Liga so credit where credit is due. It looked as if Liverpool wanted it more and once we weathered the 25 minutes in the first half when barca were very good it looked good for us. the thing I was most impressed about was the way Liverpool work when they dont have the ball. Is there a team in the champions league that can match them in this type of play? I doubt it, and I dont think anyone would like playing against us.....Momo led by example out there and he was a constant thorn in the Barca side....Fantastic result and that animal who was spitting at gerrard taking the corner should be banned for life, If a liverpool supporter did that can you imagine the negative reaction from the press?

Credit also needs to go to Pepe Reina for keeping us in the match.  Like many of his teammates, he looked a little nervous in the final 10 minutes (that Deco freekick was heart in mouth stuff) but he made three outstanding saves to keep out Barca's second (1 on Deco and 2 on Saviola).  I know you can't judge on last night's performance alone but maybe Barca are wondering if they let the wrong keeper go? ??? :D

A phenomenal result. Those 2 away goals give us a nice bit of breathing space, but to be honest I think we may still need to score at least 1 at home.

What I don't want to see in the return leg is a negative formation asking Barca to come at us. If Rafa does that, it'll be absolute suicide. You can do that in the last 10 minutes of a Prem match against Man City, but you don't do that against a team with the attacking quality of the European Champions.

I think it'll be an occasion tailor made for Crouch, and assuming Sissoko's fit I won't be surprised to see us start a 5 man midfield. I just hope it's a 5 man midfield set up to attack as opposed to defend.

I think Bellamy should start, but I wonder if using him as an outlet on the left is worth looking at. Looking at the job Riise did out there last night, I think Bellamy could have an absolute field day on the break. Plus there's the added bonus of rejigging to 4-4-2 without bringing subs into play if the situation calls for it.

So, I reckon...

                          Reina

        Finnan    Carra    Agger  Arbeloa/
                                          Aurelio

             Gerrard   Sissoko  Alonso
Pennant                                     Bellamy

                          Crouch

Bench: Dudek, Kuyt, Fowler, Riise, Hyypia, Mascherano, Arbeloa/Aurelio

I knew there was a range of widths and lengths allowed, but I didn't know that the width range was between 50 and 100 yards. That's an enormous difference.  :oh:

Yeah its a bit strange really the one pitch you could always see the size difference was at Highbury where the pitch was only 110 yards/73yards whereas Anfield is wider but the same length 110 yards/94.

Boring pitch size discussion over :p

Amazing result last night.
Great tactics by Raffa.Fair play to our boys for keeping their chins up after going a goal down in such a Hot atmosphere. We showed a lot of balls and character last night,im really proud of our boys for doing so.

We have one foot in the quarter finals now but MUST not get complacent...Barca all be it not at their best at present are not top of La Liga for nothing...if we score first at Anfield that should be enough to deflate them.
We most likely will knock Barca out but theres no question they will go down fighting!

COME ON RED MEN ..................ALL THE WAY TO THE FINAL!!
