We can't and no team has ever progressed after losing 2-1 at home.

Pro football players playing for top clubs come under the soptlight all of the time, and they have to handle this part of the pressure especially from the media apart from the pressure to perform all of the time. Journalists do not live in this kind of pressure life, so they should not be so judgementaln like that. Probably these journalists hated to see the fact that Rafa is a pragmatic man, and worse still, Bellamy was in the starting line-up.

As for Barca, the tie is only half way and is by no means over. We still have to do the business and get the job done in the second leg at Anfield to sew up the tie. Don't fall into the trap of being complacent and dismiss Barca by believing that they can't score 2 goals at Anfield.

Of couse. The idea situation for your typical sh*te stirring fat c*nt journo would have been Bellamy not being named in the squad and liverpool to have been heavily beaten. Then they could write about how Bellamy has ruined his career and how everything is going wrong for liverpool and the American owners must be regretting buying the club. The usual load of BS. They make me sick.

All of us can see the funny side to Bellamy's goal celebration - swinging an invisble golf club - but the press seemed to condemn him for doing so saying that this is a perfect illustration of how intelligent footballers are.

The "fracas" issue has reached the shores of Spain aswell, and the facts were well known. Nevertheless no Catalan nor Madrid papers focused on Bellamy's gesture.

It seems to me that some of the ENglish press are always desperate to diminish our tryumphs, to find always something to say we're not big enough. They start counting the leagues since a sponsor starts to pay, they talk about luck after some rounds and winning a final of CL, when we win the FA cup they talk about the league...and they focus on irrelevant celebrations, all the cráp seems to be valid in order not to talk about our success.

Pathetic. Liverpool has been the team that has brought most of the glory to english club's football. And that will not change.

:nod Fantastic feeling of smugness knowing we managed to beat Barca in the Nou camp but it could have been very different. In the minutes before and after they scored they were all over us and it could easily have been 2 or 3 nil. But luckily we scored a soft goal and in the second half we dominated them ending up with a fantastic and decisive second goal.
I agree with other posters that we need to be careful in the second leg but I feel confident that we'll progress now, I actually think all 4 of the prem sides will make it thorugh to the quarter finals and that will be incredible, how cool would it be to beat Arsenal next round, then Chavski and then hammer ManUre in the final!!!

I can't wait, bring it on  :D  :D  :D

Interesting stat, but if anyone coudl change that it woudl be your lot. Still the best team in Europe on their day IMO and Eto'o should be playing.

That being said, it was a fantastic result for us last night and I'm very confident we´ll progress, I can't see us getting turned over 2-0 or 3-1.

i was kickin myself a few minutes after i had calmed down when bellars scored cos i saw that 100/1 bet in the paper and thought, hmmm could be worth a punt...:( devestated.

what did everyone make of arbeloa's debut? i thought he was quite solid without being outstanding, and he did well to block that messi shot after saviola's effort, was rafa right to play him?

Despite being partially responsible for the Barca goal (JAR has to take part of the responsibility as he was 5 minutes behind the play) he played really well considering he was thrown in the deepest end of all, he showed some good pace and good vision with his passes.

Looking forward to seeing him in action again, but at whos expense will it be?

Ah yeah, as has been said already multiple times Momo was immense last night.  I hope his injury isnt too bad because he really  showed what he can do last night, the only thing that concerns me with Momo is his passing skill but even that looked a little better than it has previously.

Roll on the second leg!

What a night just woke up with one hell of a hangover but it was all worth it. This will go down as one of our greatest results an RAFA and the boys deserve all the credit as do the fans who yet again were outstanding. Fu,ck me i nearly broke me voicebox screaming when Riise scored.
I cant see us getting beat at home by more than 1 goal so im pretty confident were through infact i going down the bookies latter to put a tenner on us winning the whole thing (any1 got a spare tenner)

AREBOLA was impressive in his first start and could be a very useful player with his versatality

great night

How conservative will Rafa get with his line-up and tactics at Anfield?  Scoring a goal almost doesn't matter because a 1-0 loss still puts us through, I would think we would see 5 at the back or maybe a MaccaMomo combo in defensive midfield, and at the very least a defensive minded left midfield with Riise or Aurelio preferably Riise.
