BARCELONA 1-2 LIVERPOOL - ALL REACTION HERE......

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby kunilson » Thu Feb 22, 2007 1:07 am

How good does it feel to support us right now???

The amount of bs we put up with the media and everything, especially after the week we've had, and to come out with a result like that.....THOROUGHLY deserving it might i add....u just couldn't write this stuff.

Yes we had some lapses of concentration, we gave the ball cheaply at times...but the overall commitment by the boys cannot be flawed, we plugged away and we got a result that will shut any doubters the :censored: up...

Great night, great result, but concentration is what is gonna see us through to the next round....in no way can we think that this tie is over..

kunilson, reporting live after 5 or 6 magners...signing out.

Not to mention an anxious Kuyt!  When he missed that header my heart sank but we got the second goal our industry deserved anyway and were the better team on the night.  Considering we were playing arguably the best team in world football this past year on their patch, that's sure as feck saying something.

Our lads looked nervous at times but they kept battling.  I'm over the moon that we came from a goal down away in this one.  How many times this season have we failed to respond to going a goal down and we do it at the fooking Nou Camp?  Incredible!  :buttrock

Now, if we can just build on this massive confidence boost and finish the job at Anfield, we might have another proper run at ol' big ears.  Who knows, maybe we can warm up by leathering the Mancs at Anfield? :D

On the other side of the coin, and to take nothing away from our lads, how shocking were Barca?  Our leveller was one of the softest goals you'll see in any competition, let alone the Champions League.  Schoolboy defending should have given us our second off of the backpass miscue and they were a shambles for Riise's winner as well.  Hopefully Riikjard opts for the same swashbuckling line-up (Ronaldinho, Deco, Messi, Giuly, Gudjohnsenn and Iniesta all on the pitch at the same time?  Madness!) at Anfield--I think we're capable of cutting that side to ribbons on the counter attack.

I received a SMS of a supporter of barcelona that knows his footie and he wasn't confident before the game. He was concerned about Belleti and Motta

Barcelona made heavy mistakes, note the s, as the second goal for instance you could blame marquez not heading that to the corner, but the whole gap they left when the CB came to the LB position was a huge one.

They did that mistake because they didn't expect to be in that position at that time. They didn't expect to be 1-1, and they lost their composture and took heavy risks. Until min 21 we were solid, pressing well, advanced defence, the back line well packed and leaving outside to them (with one mistake of the ref only). But then they scored.

And if I have to be honest in the minutes later I suffered, we seemed to be a bit groggy, and I've seen many teams getting  4 in the bag when that happens in Nou Camp. But Bellamy's goal killed them. And showed all the problems they have.

Too many creators of the game, and a weak defensive defensive midfielder to hold them up, and poor RB. Belleti was simply awful.

P.S. Too tired now, but the Spanish press is going funny to read. I can forward you that they didn't see this coming. Valdes is totally depressed according to Saviola. Have a good night! I'll bring this stuff tomorrow if no one brings it before.

No, they shoudn't. This is football. The score dictates the comments. If we lost, and we could have lost, the people would have said wtf was Arbeloa doing there, or WTF Zenden had another chance.

But we won. And the comments are just the opposite.

The truth is somewhere in the middle always, but Rafa has recovered the GREAT TEAM sensations, the kind of team that wins finals, and wins in Nou Camp, and in the nineties and most of this decade I could not enjoy that feelings often.

Yes they should. You cant have everything. Not even money driven unlimited resourced clubs like Chelsea can win every competition they compete in.

You cant win domestic cups and get results in the Champions league with all the travel. No squad is big enough or good enough, and no amount of money to buy players will give it to you.

What feels better, beating the so called world's best in Barcelona on their turf, or beating some part time players in the Carling cup. I know which of the two makes me keep my neighbors awake with celebrations

The only team to win in Nou Camp was a Liverpool side back in the 80's.

Great match!  I just watched the taped version here in the states.  That was a fantastic result, throughly deserved.  Hope Momo is all right, though.  He was brilliant.

Great result, but we can't get carried away - it's half time, and we have seen ourselves what can happen in football.

Bellamy was excellent, Kuyt was shocking, Riise was nowhere to be seen apart from his goal, and Gerrard was pretty ineffective.

Everyone else played well, apart from a couple of moments with Pepe towards the end.

Fantastic result, though - truely fantastic. :nod

our little team = 5 European Cups

your big team = 2 European Cups

Sorry, 1976 was the last english team to beat Barca at the Nou Camp, and that was by Liverpool.

We are the only english team tohave beated Barca at their home ground.

FANTASTIC result and while i thought we would do well out there, not for one minute did i expect to see a win!!! It was nervy for 20minutes leading up their goal and after but that aside, I thought we looked comfortable in defense and dangerous on the break for much of the game. We didn't let them get behind us and i can't even remember seeing our centre-halves getting turned around on more than a couple of occasions. Made me laugh to hear the SKY panel whinging about Gerrard playing out on the right but the truth is the manger got his tactics bang-on once again. Would the panel have dropped Sissoko? the lad was absolutely immense tonight and was comfortably our best player (ahead of Carra.) He was absolutely everywhere tonight, it's like the ball has a Momo tractor beam on it! Very mature performance although me an me mates had a sweep-stake on when he would get booked! Plus how many sneaky (and often crucial) fouls did he get away with tonight before the booking (for a good tackle) came? He was also excellent in possession tonight while Alonso and Gerrard were a little off with their passing, and i feel he has really come of age as a player with this performance.

Barca looked a side in dissaray at times tonight but the tie still feels far from over to me and i wouldn't be surprised if there is another emotional night ahead at Anfield in two weeks time. We won't be able to really appreciate or celebrate this win unless (and untill) we finsish the job at Anfield.
