Not sure about him to be honest.... As mentioned before, Werder could have got good money for him but they didn't sell, he may have held out for a Bosman to cash in himself but overall I reckon he flatters to deceive, there have been many strikers in the past with good stats but he hasn't got any major honours and doesn't set the Champions League on fire either.
I think we should keep looking.....

story from jan windon

I think he would be a good signing on the cheap, but would not pay too much for his services. He turns 29 in june.

also:

Klose expected to leave

Podolski is better than Klose.  Klose is a very good player but is he world class?  I aint so sure.

Honestly, I don't think he's an improvement on what we have already.
If he were such a predator, fox in the box etc, he'd be top scorer in
the German league regularly but he's never achieved that.

The German league whilst far from being weak isn't the most competative.
Klose, imho would be a step backwards rather than a step forward for us.

For a free transfer, yeah I'd take Klose...

The German league is competitive.  Too many people think Bayern just walk the title year in year out which is a myth.

Its a strong league.

47 goals in 80 games doesn't sound too bad to me mate.

47 goals in 80 games is a world class goal ratio, i believe Michael Owen's was similar when he was banging them in for us!  As for Klose, hes a decent player, i don't think he's world class, but on a bosman its worth a punt with Robbie going in the summer and possibly Crouch moving on.  He may turn out to be shi*e but then at least we've wasted no money, but if he turns out class and plays how he does in the world cup, then we'l have a really good option in our squad IMO.

In another thread I mentioned Lucas Podoski but I actually meant Klose

i thought thats what you meant Bam...i just didnt wish to question it. For me Klose would be an excellent addition, and exactly the type of threat we are devoid of. (FWIW, Podolski and Klose, wouldnt be a bad pair to work with...based on their partnership for the National side. Klose, though is a great shout. And one who fits the criteria of the managers style (at present).  Is he really about to become a free agent?

Miroslav Klose scored with plenty of headers in the 2002 World Cup finals. Then Klinsmann became the head coach and immediately gave him the assignment of improving his shots on both feet, with special drills for him alone and some "homework". The result - only 1 headed goal at the last World Cup.

His goal scoring record at club level is far from being just a "good" or "decent" striker. I'd welcome him with opern arms, more so if he's on a Bosman...

It actually appears that he isn't on a Bosman in the summer but he will have only a year left, which means it will effectively be a Michael Owen situation whereby Bremen have to sell him for a knock down price otherwise he'll go for free in the summer of 2008.

Come on lads Klose is a good player. But now with Hicks and Gillette on board and with a transfer kitty to compete with the best clubs, we should be going all out to buy the best and if David Villa costs 35m we should go for him.

We only need 4 more world class players for our starting 11. Then additional quality squad players.
We should go all out to get.

1 Villa
2 Alves
3 Ribbery
4 Richards/ Ibanez/pablo/baines

GK reina/carson
rb finnan/abdola
lb aurellio/baines
cb carra/aggar/richards/
rw alves/pennant ?
cm gerrard/alonso/mascherano/sissoko
lw ribbery/gonzales
cf villa/kuite/bellamy/crouch

That is a quality squad with a few more young additions coming in.

                              Reina
                richards      aggar    carra

Alves           alonso        mascherano          ribbery

                             gerrard
                     kuite               villa

That is a mouth watering attacking 3/5/2 or
or can be 3/4/3
God i can't wait til next season!!
