Miroslav klose. is he really... - On a free at the end of the season?

Now this a player that I really like and I can't understand for the life of me why he has never gone to a really big club before. His performances for Germany in two World Cups have been excellent, his movement is clever, he has pace and he is a really good header of the ball as well. A couple of the goals I have seen him score in both Internationals and for his club have stamped him out as being a class striker and my feeling is that if you are looking for a bloke who will stick it in the onion bag on a regular basis, this is the fella. On another thread it has been intimated that he is available on a free, and that being the case I would be getting him signed sometime around now on a pre-contract.
I know lots of lads on here like David Villa and they'll get no argument from me. He looks like a really good player but at the sort of money you'd have to go to for him, my opinion is that even with our new owners he's out of our reach.
Klose on the other hand as a direct replacement for Robbie (and possibly even freeing up the possibility of selling on Crouch for a big profit) would make a lot of sense to me. Certainly, the additions of the much touted Daniel Alves, along with Klose in return for offloading the tall fella to the barcodes would seem like business to me.

Is it just me or is this bloke (Klose) a successful signing just waiting to happen for somebody?

I really like Klose as a player and always have, if its true that he is available for a free in the summer then i really think we should go for him.  The top goalscorer in the last Worldcup he has proven himself at the highest level. Brilliant in the air and good off the ball he would be a great addition to our squad.  I don't think he should be a replacement for Crouch as i think he has a lot to offer and the two of them in our squad could mean great things.

Would be a great signing imo, as long as we also buy two top quality wingers in the summer aswell. Klose is the best header of a ball in world football and with the right ammunition he'd be dynamite. The German League is also very similar to the Premiership in that it's very much "up and at em" and not more technical like La Liga and Serie A.

He would have moved last summer but Bremen would have got peanuts for him so he decided that they would let him honour his contract and then let him move on for nothing. They'll be a major scrap for him next summer.

Great shout if it's true. I was surprised that Man U didn't go after him to replace Van Nistelrooy.

He'd be absolutely perfect for the club. Germans have a good reputation of adapting to the Prem (Ballack mysteriously excepted), and I think he'd be a stunning addition to our front line.

Good age as well - he's 28, which puts him right in that slot where pundits claim a player is right at their peak.

Now that the club has money to play with, how good a bit of business would it be to solve a huge problem without a transfer fee involved? I bet Gillett and Hicks would absolutely wet themselves at that prospect.

Good shout Mick, and Bremen are prepared to let him leave in the summer.

Juventus are interested and he seems to be flattered according to report from Germnay, to be linked with them. [They're coming back to the Serie A next season].

I don't like him, but then I haven seen him only in international events. In the world cup most of his goals were in the first round against weak oppositions. I think that he's a tough worker, but I don't see him real killer instict. But to be honest I'm talking of an impression of watching him about 12 games, so my opinion doesn't count really. I'd have to watch him regularly on his league to make a better guess.

IMO it's not that easy to improve what we already have... and I'm not sure Klose would. He's more famous than Kuyt, that's for sure, not sure he'd be what we need though.

Not the biggest Klose fan, he's great for Germany but I don't think he's as good at club level, yeah he's free but he's not the quality we need to make that next step, he's no better than Kuyt imo.

In another thread I mentioned Lucas Podoski but I actually meant Klose, he is the kind of player we are crying out for upfront. He's also the closest player to the likes of Rush and Fowler, a natural predator. The one player we are missing upfront, everytime I've seen him play he's caught the eye.

Although he's on a free if I was Rafa I'd be inclined to offer Bremen a few million to them to get there attention and let the board do the rest on him.

o.k to replace crouch - he is capable of heading the ball !
crouch to newcastle for 12m klose for free - good bit of business.

on a different subject I watched danny alves play against betis at right back -he was awful - loads of mistakes. If we sign him I hope its not for 12m and I also hope he won't be playing right back!

I rated klose highly after WC 2002, he is an excellent player, good pace, good finish and good headers! I agree with bigmick, class movment and a great goalscorer.

but one thing really frustrates me about him, he is sometimes unpredictable in games, he goes on being lazy at some part!

is he on a free?  I remember hearing him speak about Werder Bremen and all he said was he would not leave to join another side in Germany.  I would be very surpised if Werder let his contract run out.  They could of sold him last summer after the WC if that was the case.

I like Klose but his not as good as Podolski.  Podolski is a top top striker and will only get better.

Would be a great signing, especially on a free.

I feel he's the natural poacher style player we've been missing since Owen left. We have the hold up guy (Crouch) the pace guy (Bellamy) and the hard worker (Kuyt), we need someone to replace Robbie who might not bring too much else to the game but will bang in the goals. This doesn't seem to be Rafa's type of player, to be a truly great goalscorer you need to have a selfish streak whereas Rafa prefers team players, but hopefully he will change his mind as I feel this is the one type of player we are lacking.

I think his contract runs out June 2008.  So it looks like he will either sign a new one at Werder or be sold in the summer.

An old news story.

Klose Staying With Werder (Soccer365)   2007-01-10 16:04
Werder Bremen striker Miroslav Klose insists he will not leave the club during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old Germany international is contracted to the Bundesliga leaders until the end of next season, but talks over a new deal have stalled.

Klose, who was the leading goalscorer in the 2006 World Cup, may be allowed to leave in the summer, should no deal be agreed.

Bremen will not risk losing the prolific striker on a free transfer, and both parties are eager to find a resolution.

"I want all of this behind me as quickly as possible so I can make plans," said the former Kaiserslautern frontman.

"The start of the second half of the season would be too early (to move), though."

Bayern Munich became the latest side to register their interest in Klose, although he seems intent on moving abroad, if no deal can be struck with Werder.

"If I move, then only five clubs would come into the equation," he added from Werder's winter training camp in Belek, Turkey.

"I am open to offers from Spain, England or Italy."

Juventus lead the race for his signature, but several Serie A clubs may provide competition while Bayern are considered the only other club able to tempt him to stay in the Bundesliga.
