Is it just me?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Is it just me or are there too many over-hyped players (and coaches) that are not putting out and trying to save face with unapologetic excuses for their bad play? I am a new Liverpool fan, and after months of Houllier, Owen and countless others who are not coming through in the clutch (Beckham for England), am starting to think that there is just far too much talk and no action. I am losing a lot of respect for these players and with the recent ****** of Gerrard wanting to be traded, the premiership just seems to be filled with petulant overestimated primadonnas that just aren't worth the face time.
Mourinho was customizing his flashy blue racing car -- applying the finishing touches of go-faster stripes, aerodynamic spoilers and a fat f@ck you exhaust -- while on his red car, Benitez was trying to glue together a broken chassis, repair bodywork and replace burst tyres.

Absolutely, bring back the team, not the individuals.
Can anybody name 3 Greek players from Euro 2004?
but France are gone,
England(choked once again in the crunch)
Spain beaten
Germany embarrassed  etc etc
All those stars have winked out.

You don't need stars(ask Chelsea)
You need a team.

The stronger your national league, the earlier your national team got eliminated...eeh? Dutch will be next.

To many foreign average imports coming into any league will stiffle home grown youth and eventually this will weaken the national side. Lets be honest about this your only have to look at L.F.C. to see the effect it can have. :( :(

Yes, we have produced nothing have we, Fowler, McManaman, Owen, Thompson, Wright, Gerrard.

These players have and will continue to learn a lot from the likes of Litmanen, Hamann, Hyypia, and other teams players like Zola, Bergkamp, Okocha etc...

I have to disagree with you, although you do get some ******, you have seen some amazing players at Anfield over the last ten years.

Even UK players can be mercenaries, look at Furgeson at Everton, they would love to get him off the books, but he is happy to sit out his contract and be paid £45K a week.

Hello sir, I am from Los Angeles and I was just recenty converted into following and loving football by a fellow medical student who was from Liverpool. Learning more and more about Liverpool, I am sure that Liverpool has been a great team, and look forward to their making history and not dwelling on their legacy.

I dislike it when news seems to be manufactured in order to mask really bad play. From here in the Pacific, when I read about people promising this or that and not coming through, it is time for them to shut up and put out, as the armed forces here would say.

I agree wholeheartedly with those who are astute enough to point out that team play is more important than great individual players. Real Madrid is an example of this.

We are seeing the signs over the last couple of years that the age of the superstars may be passing, with a return to success of more workmanlike sides who get defend brilliantly, close midfields down and pick the oppistion of.

Already this season we have seen Valencia win the Spanish league, Porto win the European cup, and Greece excelling in Euro 2004.

It should give heart to Liverpool fans.
Jolly Bob Grumbine.

There's an 8 year old at the Academy - Connor Randells- Get your money on him NOW to be England captain before he's 21.
He's no relation or anything else but he's the best I've EVER seen.

They are still coming through.
