Richard keys - Werewolf

I was just watching The Last Word and i noticed that Mr Keys seems to have lost a lot of hair on his hands and it seems the original Teenwolf has got work done, the tosser because of HDTV

He will probably be the first of many. Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has had a makeover to ensure he stands up to the unforgiving scrutiny of high definition TV.

But it was not unacceptable levels of facial wrinkles or bags that have been attracting attention.

It was his hairy hands. With more football fans ordering high definition set-top boxes and flatscreen TVs, his bosses are thought to fear the distinctive Keys crop could put viewers off.

Fans who had noticed his hands were on the hirsute side had already nicknamed him 'Werewolf'.

But in his latest appearances, Keys's hands have been remarkably smooth and bare.

It was thought the 49-year-old presenter has had them waxed or lasered, no doubt a painful procedure considering the hair once went all the way to his knuckles.

High definition television provides a picture with four times the clarity of standard TV.

Media analyst and high definition expert Vincent Letang said this meant Keys's makeover was necessary.

"High definition television has been around in the U.S. and Japan for several years now and there have been concerns that with four times the detail, every little facial disgrace or abnormality would show up on camera," he said.

"Studio bosses have overcome this problem with more sophisticated make-up techniques but with HDTV everything still has to be double checked before programmes - and presenters - can air.

"In Richard's case no amount of thick concealer or make-up would, I'd imagine, be able to cover up such coarse hand hair."

A TV insider said: "Richard is incredibly touchy about his body hair and has put up with years of stick about it. Richard won't divulge whether it was his idea or Sky's to get his hands done.

Regardless of whose decision it actually was, he is thrilled with the results."

With every wrinkle now looking like a crevasse and every pore an abyss under high definition TV, BBC and Sky presenters are rumoured to be demanding 'Botox budgets'.

In the U.S., a cult internet site has been set up, rating celebrities on how they appear under the high definition microscope.

A spokesman for Sky Sports declined to comment.
