Post whatever technology you find interesting or amazing in here.

This would be useful.

Also, something quite well known, a usb drive:

It has 16,666 times more capacity than the Amstrad which my brother had in 1985. It had 64kb capacity. :O

here is a wikipedia entry about an indispensible item that can do all sorts of useful things in the home. they can be a little troublesome now and then but at the end of the day can save a lot of time.

oh great a thread for me. I actually work in the technology business, forecasting & commercialisation.

A got a nice one, the invisible cloak. (i will look for a picture and edit in later). Developed in Taiwan, the cloak has a hood and looks like a green raincoat. However when viewed from a certain angle the person wearing the cloak competely dissapears, ie you see the background. At the moment it only works if the viewer is standing in one particular spot, but at least it does work.

It makes the car in that Bond movie a little more feasible.

---------------

another one - it is predicted that mobile phone techonology will progress at such a rate that in the future no-one will be paying for their phone calls in a city. Each phone has infared now, some have Wi-Fi, etc. These phones will form self assembly networks, which means if you are calling someone across the city, the phone will decide what network to use and the cheapest will be the making a call using the connectivity between phones. In a city this would be easy, but in the country you may have a problem, becuase at best you need a phone within 30 metres of you.

I read that the technology is here to actually put a small celluar node into a butt of a ciggarette (RFID type chip). When the smoker sparks up, the node is charged through the heat, and will last for about 30 minutes arfter the ciggaratte has been discarded. Get a few of these butts together and you have a temporary network.
