Having read the tripe that was posted in the Carling Cup thread I am absolutely dismayed at the "hysteria, knee-jerk and over the fark-ing moon" comments made by our so called "fans"...........

"Rafa needs to go......."

"We need an English Manager for the English game"

"We need to sell half the players & get 'proper' English players"

"I could play in goals better than Dudek"

All I can say to you moronic, plastic, glory hunting, poster-boy, soul-less, fudge packing, anti-Rafa crusading wannabes is:

"GO SLITHER UNDER THE HOLE FROM WHICH YOU CRAWLED OUT OF"

Do I have to remind you of the following…………………

Who is the greatest club in England?
Who has the greatest center-midfielder and arguably the best player in the world?
Who has the greatest supporters on THIS whole planet?

WE FARKING DO!

Yes it hurts to lose the way we did against the Gooners. But guess what life goes on……………
We have had poor results in the past, but we have gotten over it. AND WE WILL DO THAT NOW.
We have so many things to look forward to; the smashing that Watford will receive on the weekend, the reception that awaits teams like Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and the Scum when they come to Fortress Anfield. And hopefully at the end of the season, the massive cash-injection that we will get and have needed for the last 10-15 years!

I honestly believe that this is the darkest moment before our greatest dawn. This is our half-time against AC Milan re-visited. I remember one of the forumites a few weeks back saying something about what happens when you pull a lion’s tail. IT COMES BACK AND RIPS YOUR FARKING HEAD OFF. That is us right now, our tail has been pulled for the last time this season. Just wait and see what happens to the rest of the teams that face us now…………………………

I'm not one for knee jerk reactions;I don't ask that Rafa gets the chop or we send johnny foreigners home and bring in the bulldog Brits and I am certainly not going to pull the Red blinkers over my eyes and say everything is looking rosy.
I was unfortunately amongst the 42,000 who had paid top price money for the privilege of watching a cup quarter final last night.Sadly when the team was announced our demise was set in stone.Wholesale changes,to the extent of ripping out the spine of the team and replacing it with the bit part players is an insult.

Reality check;

Arsenal have a greater footballing technique that eminates throughout their squad and we are a good few years behind.

Lion has awoken...more like the pussycat has stirred

Last time I saw us concede goals in such a fashion was in 1977 when Charlton's Select XI hit 9 goals in Tommy Smith's Testimonial.At least we scored 9 in reply.

I agree this season has brought most of us back down to earth and on planet reality we now stand. People on here were laughing off suggestions that were three years behind the big boys. Well as funny as it sounds, its probably more truer to the case than we're actually anywhere on par with them.

Our record (and I dont know the exact stat) is very poor against the other big three. We havent produced against any of them, and thats who we're measuring ourselves up against. Fair enough Rafa hasnt been at the club as longer as Wenger at Arsenal and Fergie at Old toilet. So time will tell eventually.

I dont mind seeing questions asked and fingers pointed at the manager and players after poor displays. But all the people on here deluding themselves, that Rafa's beyond critisim and give it the 'your not loyal for questioning him'. Gets on my ti.ts, so to does the most negative of poster like. But thing the f.ucks me off with the 'In Rafa we trust brigade' they ALWAYS harp on about Istan-blo.ody-bull. As magical as it was, and was the stuff that dreams are made out of, STOP LIVING IN THE PAST ! So next time someone critises Rafa or whoever, try not to use the 'remember Istanbul'. F.uck I remember us winning the league back in 1990, but theres no way in hell I'm gonna keep using that as a brush off in a debate with someone who sees things different.

I dont understand what you are saying Supersub.

On one hand you point out that Arsenal's "greater football technique" is better than our own yet are expecting you money's worth when you go to a game?

I fully disagree here, on paper if you put our 1st team players and compare them (besides our wingers) to Arsenal we are pretty much equal if not better. The FA Cup on the weekend is a reflection of this. We dominated almost the entire 1st half but the same problem we have had for a while surfaced, we couldn't put the ball into the farkin net! Rosicky's lucky goal came after Arsenal had strung a few passes together, after 40 MINUTES!!!!! Arsenal did not outplay us, just in the same way Everscum didn't, Blackburn, Chelsea, the list goes on. In fact the only team that has come close in beating us comprehensively was the Scum, and by no means were we outplayed!

What I can agree on is what you say about Rafa's team selection. I can't for the life of me understand why Rafa decided to play our youth/fringe players against Arsenal's 2nd string team. Wenger has given more time to the youngsters than most teams in the premiership (because financially he is forced to) as compared to Liverpool who (besides Gonzalez and Agger) have not given any of the youngsters hardly any important game time. Arsenal are freakin light years away of any team in the EPL in regards to this. Rafa knew what the result would be a soon as he announced the team, which makes us question his true opinion of the cup competitions?

???

I am not getting carried away here like most other people. I know that Rafa, the players and our entire club will use this dark blight as the motivation we need to go on and play our best football for the rest of the season. Not the other way round, which so many doom and gloom merchants have been "forseeing" on here recently.

Obviously not but you said the whole team apart from the wingers. Who else could match Arsenal? Carragher obviously and Finnan. Hyypia? Possibly but nobody else.

I'll reiterate what I said in another thread - if we'd scraped an equaliser against Arsenal on Sunday before Henry scored, and we'd lost by a "reasonable" scoreline like 1-0 or 2-1 against them in the Carling Cup, none of these threads would be here.

Bottom line - we lost a couple of games. Nobody died. Our best first 11, even with the latest injuries, is still capable of beating anyone on their day. If we get destroyed by Barca I'll start to be worried, but I genuinely think we'll get a result out there. Before the two cup games, we pinged in goals for fun, and had won 6 of our last 7 league games, conceding only 1 goal.

All this week has shown is that we still don't have the quality beyond the first 11 of the other top teams, and some of the younger players are a long way from breaking through. We've got great players to come back from injury like Kewell and Sissoko, and come summer we'll have a huge transfer kitty to sort our other shortcomings out.

Please, everyone just put it into perspective - it was a few bad days at the office against a well-drilled team that have some very bright prospects in the wings. We're in good form in the league, and I expect us to get back on track against Watford at the weekend.

there are some deluded people in here who would still make excuses rather than face up to facts when the facts are staring them in the face.

if rafa thinks its ok to win nothing as long as we finish in the top 4 then he is very much mistaken, also think of the revenue we have lost going out of these competitions because rafa didnt take them seriously. i seriously doubt rafa is the tactical genius some say he is
