Rafa's frustration is boiling over...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think the actual figures go something like this...

Spent 78million
Brought in 42million
Total of 36million spent

The same ammount Chelsea paid for Shevchenko and almost as much as Man U paid for Ferdinand ???

Hes right to  deffend himself in my opinion.Although its not really our style to run to the papers its usually sorted out behind closed doors the way it should be.

But we also know that not everything wriiten in the papers is the truth....

Simao, Alves,Duff,Defoe,SWP are all  players who we failed to sign because of the lack of funds

Plus bearing in mind the injuries we picked up what would we have thought if he had played a full strength team, lost and had more injured than the 4 that were?

I would rather some of the fringe players make up our "Cup Teams " ( not including CL Cup obviously ) than our League teams

My take on this it is a reality check on what needs to be built and put in place - what he is citing is, that in the time he has been here we can't have the world - and there is much to be done still to reach the heights we want - in terms of consistency in the league and strenghth in depth to challenge for all competitions.
THE BRENDAN REVOLUTION IS UPON US !

But I also dont think like none of did that it would have been so humiliating a pathetic disgraceful defeat after 77 years.
I feel ashamed and so should he.

all he had to do is to come out and say " look sorry i f**** up and the team say sorry as they f***** up"
if he had said that it would be done and dusted and we move on, we know we have money coming and a new ground. what gets me is that big teams forget the fans would like to see the team winning all the time, if that means puting put your best team game after game so be it.......back to the old days when they handed out the last week team sheet for that days game.

again we seem to forget reality--- SWP went for 20 million... i'm sorry he was/is not worth it...i remember the debate whether he was physically strong enuff to play in the epl... also it was though chelski paid so much to keep him from us. rafa may say he couldn't afford to pay the prices but he may really mean that HE cannot pay way too much for a player. alves was dangled and the price was ratcheted up as was simao's... the lack of support from the board may have had less to do with it rather than the stupid prices. we could have bought freddy adu too.. not!

Disappointed with what rafa has said, and I'm sure when he looks back he'll regret the words. Until players like Pennant, Gonzalez and Bellamy start producing, there's little he can complain about.

Rafa is an outstanding manager. The best technical manager anywhere for mine. But when it comes to transfers, he's not world class. To put it in the right context, neither is Mourinho. Ranieri was better at buying players than Mourinho.

Wenger has proven to be much more astute. Its not like van Persie was too expensive. Cost less than Crouch. At a technical level, Ferguson is probably at sunday league level, but he has a long history of buying that one player that makes the difference. Cantona, Schmeichel, Stam, van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo.

Rafa has had way too many misses with transfers, and the criticism of his time at Valencia was the same. He was never in charge of transfer policy, which is why he left.

I think Rafa has been poor in the transfer market. Considering that it is too early to judge Kuyt I think that only Alonso and Sissoka have been a success - maybe Reina too.

Josemi,Morientes,Pellegano, pennant, crouch,Garcia,Kromkemp, Gonzales, and if I had the time to think about it probably a bunch of lower profile players haven't really looked good enough to be first team regulars in a team challenging for the league.

It's nothing he hasn't implied before, though. He said similar things before the end of last season, in relation to funds and players but people turned a blind eye to it because we were winning. It's just the sheer fickleness of it all. Slag him for his team selection and tactics but looking into his words to beat him is just absolute madness. It's not like he's saying we've turned the corner every two minutes.

This article is :censored:. London journalism at it's best. Go see Rafa's comments on the main site.
