Garcia out for rest of season

Luis Garcia will have a scan on Wednesday morning to determine the extent of the knee injury he sustained in the Carling Cup defeat to Arsenal.
Garcia was stretchered off during the second half and manager Rafael Benitez fears the Spaniard could be out of action for some time.

He said: "Luis has a knee problem but at this moment we don't have news. He will have a scan tomorrow but it looks like we could be without him for a long time."

Mark Gonzalez (shin) and Stephen Warnock (bruised ribs) also left the field injured during the game but neither player is thought to be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.tv for the up to date injury news on Wednesday.

Benitez, meanwhile, was left to reflect on Liverpool's second Cup defeat to Arsenal in the space of four days as Arsene Wenger's men ran out 6-3 winners.

He said: "It's a bad night for us and all we can say is sorry to the supporters.

"Now isn't the time to point the finger or look to blame people. We win together and we lose together.

"The problem was conceding four goals in the first half. When you are faced with a scoreline like that it is very difficult to manage the game.

"We needed an early goal in the second half but couldn't find it. When we did score Arsenal had the quality to keep the ball and make it difficult for us.

"We need to forget about tonight as soon as possible and look ahead to Watford in the Premiership on Saturday and also the Champions League."

Just what we needed after tonight. A player who [like him or not] has made a contribution in every season with his goals.

Not only that but Gonzalez is injured and it means less players available to play on the left-hand side. I really don't want to see Riise there but it seems that he will play there with Aurelio or Warnock at left-back.

[Signing Lucas Neil doesn't sound all that bad now does it  :D ]

This is really bad news, LG is very versatile, let alone his goals. We'll miss him sorely. Plus, when Sissoko comes back, Rafa might be tempted again to play Gerrard in the left, and I wouldn't be too happy with that.

That's really bad for Garcia, the team and the fans. This is one of the worst night. I still can't believe that we lost 6-3 at Anfield. However, i think that Benitez choices were not that good.We have better players than Guthrie and Peltier !!

His option as a selection will be missed, but will his presence on the pitch be missed?  Thats debatable.  I think his been awful this season.  In 3 years he has not manged to put together a string of good performances.

He's currently the second best scorer in the squad, and he's not a striker. His goals are not fluke, as he regularly manages to score them every season.

One tricky player I cant really make up my mind about. Awful at times but horrible sometimes. A squad player though and could be missed. Good luck LG.

Dont deny he scores goals but what about his overall contribution.  Is there a player in the side that gives the ball away as much as him?

Probably not, but then he's losing the ball well up in the pitch, and losing the ball there is quite normal. Meaning that he doesn't only score goals, I can remember some accurate passes that finished in goal coming from him aswell.

Physically, he was in a good form, and when he started on the left he ran a lot and he was roaming between lines, changing from one wing to another... his overall contribution is to make the oposition defence mad! it's tough to mark him individually and he's the kind of player that can make a zonal defence ridiculous!

He scores, he passes, he runs. Yeh, he gives away balls, but not as much as he used to. Every player has some weak point! We'll miss him

It is bad about garcia.Last night was a disaster.Where was the pride.Only Stevie G showed any. It's time to get rid of Dudek as he is a liability in goals and as for Beniez's team choice only him and god knows. :(
