Exactly. And why would we want Trezeguet either? I'd take Crouch over him any day.

  I hope you are joking.

You are obviously talking on ability alone, one thing that most people dont think about when they draw up there list for incoming and outgoing players is the effect it has on the squad.
I have just finished Fowlers book and am about a third of the way through Gerrards and both seem to be far happier with english players around them.
I'm not saying that we pander to there needs and pick players solely on that, but it should be considered.
I think Crouch is really popular with Gerrard and Carragher, ones of the lads and i would be really disappointed if he was sold or swapped, even for a proven goalscorer like Trezeguet.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Crouch seems to be a likeable easy going lad who doesn't make a fuss and just gets on with it. He seems to be a bit of a character in the team. Rafa has a role for him to play at the club and it may mean he misses quite a few games but i get the impression he is happy enough just to be at a club like liverpool. I know how hard it is to get good strikers but its just as hard in my book to find decent players who are willing to play in a rotation system and usually only come on for the last half hour of games. Crouch is one of these players and i think we should try to hold on to him.

Unless of course Trezeguet was knocking the ball into the onion bag week in week out for us and we we're winning the league, then would you be disapointed?

crouch dosnt want to leave and i doubt we will let him go unless rafa has got someone up his sleve on a done deal. but if the reported 12 mil was true i would be over the moon if we got that amount!! not bad sen as we had to let saint michael go for 8 mil:(

Thats an 'If' though isnt it Lee.
Crouch scores frequently when he plays, is liked by the other players and offers something different to most strikers in the league.
When the manager says he wants four strikers with different attributes and qualities i dont see the logic in selling Crouch, who offers something different and is a threat in every game.

mmm... trezeguet would bring in something different too... goals ffs ! week in week out !

cant see the logic in wanting crouch more than a striker who can and does score whenever is played !

Crouch brings something different..i agree... but he isnt that good a player.... and his height he makes no use of... many strikers out there who are better at linkup play and dribbling and passing and heading and putting the ball in the back of the net ! and most of them cost less than 12million.. player who are exceptional in what they do cost more... nothing exceptional in crouch besides his height !
dont get wrong... i like crouch as a player and would love for him to stay in liverpool ... butttt..... if we can sign someone who is a better striker than he is... would love it ! team comes before the player... and crouch is a replacable player in our squad !

my understanding of it is that Crouch, much maligned as he is. Remains a viable option for the front line. It is Fowler if anyone who will be replaced come the summer...Crouch is integral to Rafa's plans in much the same way Carew was at the Mestalla - a 'different' option and an unpredictability to the opposing defence. He doesn't offer the 'complete' package as a striker, granted. And he has several 'weak' areas in his game. What he does bring to the table is a well worthwhile part of the whole. What Liverpool are lacking is an outright 'finisher'. That will be the next acquisition...and best of luck in finding one Rafa! (though im sure he will)  :)
