Life will go on then for this great club as it has done in the past. I wish Stevie all the best when he leaves and have faith that the good times will be back anyway under Rafa!

The lads obviously had his head turned here and thinks the grass in greener on the other side. Whilst his performances last year cannot be questioned, some of his comments make me think hes starting to beleive the hype. His I expect this to happen after Euro 2004 comments sounded like hes threatning the club to me. We dont need this big shot attitude. Its not welcome and hes not running the club. If this is how hes turning out, and I hope not, then maybe its best he goes. Liverpool will go on long after him, and whilst Chelsea are in fashion right now, they do not guarantee success. Time will tell if he goes and whether his decision was right or wrong. :)

Has anybody considered this,

1) SG had wobbler with board regarding direction of club and future of his mentor Gerald Houllier which is well publicised, ''I'm unhappy'' says SG (club captain), voicing the general concerns of everyone around the club prior to the Benitez appointment!

2) The board allay SG's fears by telling him he'll be involved in the new choice of manager, SG is happier

3) Benitez has already been appointed (although unofficially yet) with the promise of £millions to spend

4) The Thai deal falls off, Morgan retreats his offer, SG is still whinging for some answers

5) The board think ''5hit, Benitez coming subject to promises ie £millions to spend, (closed all other options ie; O'neil, Curbishley etc), no dosh as promised, where else can we raise it???

6) Sell to raise the dosh, but who?

7) answer, someone we can get £30 million + for and he's given us the excuse to get rid already, soon explain this to the fans' if 5hit hits fan! make him out to be the traitor

the above may explain the silence, may be b******s but a political situation is evident one way or the other, I'm still clutching at straws

He's gone for the friggin money but at least he's going on our terms, not like McManaman. We'll get what he's worth and all get back to hoping for a championship, with a lot more hope this time.

He's not a money man. If he goes that would be the last reason for it. You watch him on the pitch and tell me he's playing for money.

If hes going their is nothing we can do about it.Just think how sweet it will be if we have a better season than chelski, that thought keeps me going.I think we are going to have a great season, benitez is the buisness,i really think we have a fella who really knows what he is doing.Like he said you can have the best players but not the best team.

Trade Owen, while his reputation will still garnish high value.
Do you really think he'll get better under Benitez.
Once he had lightling speed and was very direct and effective.
Now he is a sniper with a reputation...oh well.

Trad him now,
