If Gerrard moves to Chelsea there is one fact that is a guarantee.....no matter what he achieves with the London mercenaries, it would never compare with the satisfaction of captaining his home town club to domestic and european honours.

If your reading this Steve....don't sell your soul by listening to Lampard, Terry & Bridge.  Stay with us and lead us to greatness again.

If he wants to go, then there is no way I wouild be f*cking groveling.

If he wants to go to Chelsea, I will f*ckin drive him there.

If he belives what the papers say, and Chelsea are a bigger club, then he can f*ck off.

He has betrayed me and every LFC fan, and I hope his carear takes a nosedive.

If this transfer goes ahead, he is worse than Judas Iscarriot.

BUT LETS JUST SEE WHAT HAPPENS

Liverpoolfc.tv:

Rafael Benitez says he will do all he can to try and keep Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen at Anfield, but added if the unthinkable was to happen then it wouldn't be the end of Liverpool's title hopes.
The new Liverpool manager says he is not worried by the constant speculation about the future of captain Steven Gerrard but believes he can persuade him to stay at Anfield.

Benitez said: "I am not worried. Normally when people say to me 'if something happens what is your opinion? I always say wait, wait, wait.

"For now it hasn't happened. We are waiting and we know they are still here with us. We also know they are important for us but we will wait.

"I will try to talk with them, to tell them how important they are to us and then afterwards I will change my mind about our future if I have to change. Again I say I'm not worried."

Benitez said it is more important to get the team structure right and play together as one team rather than individuals.

"You can have the best players but not the best team. A good player can win one match but a good team can win four, five matches. If you have a good team you can win more matches and that is what you need to win titles."

I think, like people have mentioned, he would only possibly go for money 100+ grand a week! can you imagine the response on his return. He isnt even at his peak yet, and he isnt guaranteed to win anything at chelsea.
It would be wise for him to give benitez a chance, to see what his ideas are what players he brings in.
Also Mourihnio is under a lot of pressure to better chelsea's run last year and I think we have a good chance to finish higher than them.

Id sell Michael Owen though, as he seems to be taking forver to negotiate a new contract,so if he wants out then bugger off! Id play Baros and Cisse up front anyway.
And if he's worth 30million then cash in and , then go straight to Juventus for a 20 million on the table offer for Pavel Neved/ and or Duff, with some of steve morgans cash, who chelsea may not keep, to Partner Stevie G in Midfield.

then the team for 2004/2005:

                     Dudek/ Kirkland

Finnan     Henchoz        Hypia        Risse/Carra

Kewell     Nedved       Stevie G         Duff

             Cisse           Baros

Problem solved! and only buying two new players, apart from Cisse.
High Premiership finish and a good run in the champs league guaranteed!

It is not confirmed that Gerrard wants to go to chelsea so let us wait before writing him off. Even if he wants to go to chelsea, it is not the end of the world for us. When Mcmanaman went to madrid, he was our most creative player by far, but we survived it. Why is it different this time ? I wouldn't mind getting 20 million plus duff for gerrard though.

Frankly i can't wait for 2004/2005 season to start.  Benitez is a good manager and he will do what good managers will do (ie....not pick biscan, not play henchoz at right back, not play kewell at right wing...etc). He will make a few more signings. We need to boost our defence and get a right winger.

We will have a great season, don't worry.

I make the "Away Team" trips for Liverpool in Europe but I'm not that bothered about the England games. Some of the regular Away Team are over there now and The Huyton & Kirkby lads know the score.

Its hard to know who to believe.

Normally I pay no attention to the tabloids but there is certainly no smoke without fire, and I think that at the very least the following are certain:

1. Gerrard is very unhappy at what happened last season.
2. Gerrard didn't like seeing Houllier being sacked.
3. Benetiz may not have been Gerrard's first choice.
4. Chelsea probably have had a word in his ear.

Personally I think that Gerrard would be better off giving Liverpool another year at least so as to see how things pan out under Benetiz. If he's unhappy in 12 months time he should probably be allowed to leave. He's still young and even if he wants to leave Liverpool there's plenty of time yet for that.

As for Gerrard not coming out and denying the rumours it must be remembered that he is away in Portugal preparing for a crucial game against Croatia.

I don't know what will happen but we won't get a clearer picture until after Euro 2004.

As for signing Nedved, don't be ridiculous. He has already turned down 5million a year to join Chelsea.
