Well well well folks it this time of year again. We eat Xmas dinner, get bladdered and all make New Year resolutions, while the press have a field day and try to out do each other with the most ridiculous rumours they can think of.

Some of the more dubious ones I have heard recently involving our club, is Xabi Alonso being a target for Juventus and Real Madrid sniffing around Agger! The press never seem to amaze me at all.

Anyways down to the serious business. It is the January transfer window and amid all this bullshit there sprouting, the Premiership will be active in the transfer window. Rafa Benitez was in the Liverpool Echo today confirming the fact that he will be looking for at least 2 players in the January window.

The first one is a given that it will be for cover for right back and it seems that Lucas Neil is the preferred guy for the job and Rafa actually names him as a player they would be interested in. He also said he is looking at other right backs but I think that this is just so Mark Hughes does not have Senor Benitez by the gonads over the fee. Its been quoted in the press to be a £1m fee plus Warnock. I cannot see Rafa going for this, maybe they will get the £1m but Warnock as well, I wouldn't and I hope Rafa doesn't as well.

The other position he has said he will be looking at is the centre of the midfield. Is this a admission of error by Benitez? We all knew Hamann's exit may have been a tad premature, but then again how many times has he actually started for City this year, you can count it on one hand. He thinks with the injuries we have we need a new CM and I am intrigued at to who can he be looking at. He said there were two or three possibilities and I wonder what way he is going to go with this one. Momo, Gerrard and Xabi are all class acts but 3 into 2 doesn't go SO IMAGINE 4 INTO 2.

I have a inkling he will go for a young foreign CM and I remember at the arse end of last year we were linked to a 24 year old Argentian midfielder , I cannot recall his name but I would not bet against him becoming an addition in January. I cannot see him buying a big buy or a Prem player so foreign it is. Again. Spanish or Argie is my guess, but with Rafa, who knows?

I heard we are linked with Mascherano.

We need a cover for right back and I would prefer to be a quality right back and is eligable to play in the Champions League.

But my uncle who is a technician at Liverpool heard that with today's tie against Barca, Ronaldinho is scared playing against Liverpool and he wants to move to us. I don't know, I think my uncle misinterpreted the english.. he only knows how to say "I speak london very best"

I don't think Mascharano would fit myself. He is looking for first team footie, and would not find it in a red kit, unless something drastic happens to our midfield.

I would go for Baraja, or Hamann. Two older lads who know the role they play, won't spout of in the press if they aren't getting alot of run, and who can dive into a game in the second half and lock down the middle of the park so the great midfield general can bomb forward.

simao is a certainty in my opinion, also lucas neill is on open secret. I hope we go for a midfield magician, for a bit of 'edge of the box trickery'

lucas neal i ttink is gonna come liverpool becaue he reject new contract for blackburn didnt he thats why he has been gettin booed by the blackburn fans :laugh:
