BARCELONA 1-2 LIVERPOOL - ALL REACTION HERE......

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I wanted Celtic for revenge! :D

But in hinsight im happy with Barca..we always seem to do better in the C/L when the odds are against us.When we are expected to win easily we have often failed.
Barcelona are by no means the be all and end all of football..yes they have superstars in their team but so do we.Quite often they fail as a unit and dont play too well as a team...we are more than capable of beating them over 2 legs!

I think they should be more worried about us...in the unlikely event that they score 3 we can still win it..they will know this! :D

What do u reckon will be the best line-up against barca?

I reckon...............

Reina

Finnan....Carra.....Agger...Riise

Garcia.....Gerrard.....Xavi.....Gonzalez

.........Kuyt.......Bellers.......

What u reckon...??

I reckon we'll struggle to convince one of Barca's best players to play for us.  :D

This'll be right up Rafa's street. we'll go there, shut up shop (use the counter) and get em back to Anfield for a right royal battle!  Looking forward to this tie...only thing is, the second-leg might be so tense, the missus could well go into early labour   :D   She's worse than me for swearing and cursing and getting het up....

they made hard work of the groups

aint exactly cantering in la liga

gudjohnson is playing first team..........

no eto = no world class goalscorer, not sure how long he is out for.

and rafa knows spanish football

i predict

0-0 at barca

1-0 at anfield

A lot depends on Rafa's attitude towards the 1st leg.  If we try 1 up front playing for a draw we could get hammered.  I hope he has learnt from Benfica last year and doesnt be negative.

The Group stages dont really mean that much.  They got though and thats all what really matters.

Barca aint cantering in La Liga but La Liga is a very strong league and the fact they are top means they are doing just fine.  Lets not forget they have had no Eto, or Messi for weeks.

Eto will be back by Feb and Gudjohnson is actually doing very well at the moment.

We defiantly can compete and can win however the 1st leg is what matters and we must try to score away goals as they are more than capable of scoring at Anfield.

Keeping it tight at the Nou Camp is exactly what we have to do!

The formula Rafa has used in Europe is tried and trusted. Play safe away from home and more attacking at home.

I will not be concerned at all if we play one up front at the Nou camp. The key is to keep defensively tight and flood the midfield to  break up Barcelona's midfield attack.

Playing an attacking formation at the Nou Camp will be a quick route out of the champions league.

Tried that at Benfica and got punished.  Scoring an away goal is vital.

I am not saying go there and be totally attacking however we have to be positive.  Barca are not invincible and you can score goals past them however that requires a positive attitude.

We only blew it in the second leg IMO - 1 nil away wasn't too bad. For the second leg we had a few players out, had to play Traore and conceded a 25 yard unstoppable shot.
Also, our form going into the 2nd leg was poor - we were having trouble scoring.

If we play Xabi and Momo in the middle then Gerrard can keep up with Ronaldhino no problem.
I wouldn't have anyone else on him.

It's the tie of the round. Tough, but not unsurmountable.

Eto'o may not yet regain full fitness, as may be the case for Messi. We have a chance.

Come on you Reds!

Haven't read everyone's responses yet so apologies if I duplicate someone else's comments but...

Given who the other English sides have drawn, the Champion's League draw has taken on a very similar complexion to the Premiership schedule in the first half of this season: comfortable ties for our rivals and very tough fixtures for us.  FFS!

Something for us to look forward to after another drab winter (here) again Bob.  First off i was on a downer when the draw came up, and as you've pointed out..the others do indeed have an easier ride coming up...but, i reckon it will work in our favour. Id expect Rafa to be secretly smiling inside, despite the idea that all 'panic' will have set-in..not for me, its possibly the best tie we could have gained in terms of the players keeping focus, throughout the winter Premiership campaign...and who knows, the poor early weeks of this season, may yet prove worthwhile, through the adversity the club went through. and the 'gathering' of composure that together collectively, as of present seems to be holding out. Long may that continue..its going to have to.  Time to look at the last third and enter into it full of confidence (and freshness)  This is by far winnable... and im certain that no better high profile 'event' could have been staged, for the new owners of the club to witness, if not capitalise and solidify their foundations upon.  Onwards and upwards. Oh well, could've been worse... oh wait... :D

Seriously though, we can do it. It'll be tough but everyone at this stage is tough and although they're probably the toughest, they've still got to come to fortress Anfield, we've still got Stevie G and Rafa, we'll see a couple of cracking games and we've got history on our side. COME ON YOU REDS!!!

I'm not to bothered about the draw TBH, if I'm right the second leg is at home and thats a plus. And we've got more on our plate until February. IMO that will NOT keep the players focused, after a couple of days the excitment of the  draw should be out their system, so the can and should concerntrate on whats ahead. Until Feb, thats prodominantly the Prem and until then thats all I'll be worried about.
