Sheikh-over

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Red_lass » Sun Dec 10, 2006 11:51 am

i know this topic is over-discussed and its still being discussed. but i want to know with all this impending takeover are we the fans setting ourselves up? Saw the threads about how the money will boost the team and others. Its scared me how much expectation we have over it.

Players like Alonso and most recently Fowler has words of caution of not be too carried away by the big news.
Don't get me wrong i'm all up for it but i don't want to be delusional about it.

Mods if this topic is over used..feel free to delete away.

Naturally anyone fan of such a big club which is about to be taken over will seem anxious and understandably cautious. Alonso and Fowler were simply being the humble professionals that we have come to know them to be. I think they were simply saying "Look were not goingto do a Chelsea and turn into arrogant :censored:, were still to going to fight for it the way we do now".

Its strange because its such a big club and its surprising such a big club hasnt had investment by now but many will attribute our falerting behind the other big clubs to that same local tradition of non outside ownership however times have moved on.

At the same time it is good to be cautious as look at what has happened to Hearts. Dont know his name but their skipper has left the club it seems and this is down to over controlling by Romanov.

when he goes on vacation is it a  sheikh and vac?

caution has to be used. this guy wont waste his money, he will want results, hes a different breed of billionaire to Abramovich. Big in the horse market, and successfull there too. So dont expect us to be bidding £30m just because we know someone with the dosh.

On the other hand though Parry wouldn't screw us over... so we are in good hands i say

Id like to think this is a good move. Unfortunately things are not always that easy.... if the sheikh decides he wants nothing more to do with the club he could potentially leave us in millions of pounds of debt (a la Leeds). but then again if he brings us the stadium and the EPL that we need then Welcome is what i would say!!

This is a risk with any other club in investment as it is with our club. The problem is that this is a new thing for football clubs and we cant really do anything but predict what might happen in the future. I wouldnt pay too much attention to it as the same could happen to :censored: and Chavski.

The most important thing to remember is that we have a solid foundation to our team, as well as  great manager. Put that together with some money and we are sure find sucess.

Recent news on bbc sports indicated that DIC would only come on board if we share ground with the bluescums (God knows if this is true).
Personally, DIC wants fast bucks in acquiring LFC and I strongly oppose to the takeover. On the other hand, I do not think that Parry is trying to sell us to any devil per say.
Whatever the reason it may be, I do not want us to end up to the likes of manure & shitski regardless anyone willing to invest even a gazillion ton of money.
LFC is unique, exclusive and the only of its kind in the world. No measure of money can compare the the club

well the papers seems to prove the point that the board and manager has the club best interest at heart. Glad to hear that Rafa won't compromise the Anfield traditions with the wayward celebrit-dom thats happening at Stamford bridge.

"At Liverpool, there will always be a balance between making the right changes but always thinking about the heritage."

"My daughter is only four but she understands what the fans in Liverpool are like and why they are different to other clubs."

"She always says 'I am strong and I'm proud and I'm Scouse.' She knows what this club means to the supporters and why they are special."

Blimey.. the power of the Kop never cease to amaze me!! :)
