FORMER Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie is being invited to Liverpool to see the impact of his comments about the Hillsborough disaster.

MacKenzie claimed last week that the newspaper's vile allegations against Reds fans were correct, six weeks after admitting the coverage was untrue.

The accusations included claims that supporters were drunk, urinated on the bodies and stole wallets from the corpses.

Ninety-six Liverpool fans died at the FA Cup semi-final in 1989.

At a meeting last night, councillors said they want MacKenzie to come to Liverpool to discuss his views.

I think your well reasoned argument and excellently made points are the way forward in terms of complaint to the Radio 5 Live producers.

It's no good getting all agressive and abusive when commenting as your views are lost in the anger and bluster.

We all feel strongly about this issue I'm sure but need to step back from being abusive for the sake of it . I think Dawson commented as much earlier but its worth reiterating.

I'm not defending the S*n for one minute here but we need to absorb the recent comments and attribute them to Kelvin himself who incidently no longer has any assocaition with the rag in question ..........

As a survivor myself I can't eloquently put into words how upsetting this was when I heard it last Friday evening on the news but how much MORE heart breaking must it be for those who have lost ones in the tragedy.........

There will always be people who deny the truth and propogate lies and deception because it gives their sorry lives some warped sense of importance or meaning. One thinks of racists who deny the Holocaust for example because it validates their belifs and twisted prejudices.

Maybe Kelvin has a similar prejudice against Liverpool people...... Lets face it , in the 80's half the feckin country were anti Liverpool and fuelled by a government who despised the city and everything it stood for. The Militant Left Wing Labour members such as Derek Hatton gave the Tories the perfect excuse to put the boot into Liverpool and how they laughed whilst doing it   

BUT .............. We survived that onslaught and by the grace of God and the strength of the community we will survive this kick in the teeth.

We endured with dignity and astonishing strength of mind, soul and body (somehow) the terrible events of April 1989 and recent comments by some wannabee political commentator is NEVER going to disgrace this city, it's fallen or it's living..
