"Injuries are part of the parcel of football, its pointless wrapping players up in cotton wool. If they get an injury that's too bad"

Let's be thankful you're not the gaffer, chief! We're not exaclty blessed with injuries so why risk more? I'm with those of you who was worried that Alonso, Carra etc travelled. I would have played with ten men and put a life-size cardboard cutout of Billy Boots in the centre of midflied tonight with Martin Kemp from Spandau Ballet on the bench (he played a season for Melchester Rovers, you know)

It' s all even now:D

LFC 3 - 2 GSK at Anfield and GSK 3 - 2 LFC in Istanbul.

Not the ever greatest game, but there' re 5 goals on the pitch.

Unfortunately, my Galatasaray is leaving the European competition. Now it' s time to change shirts for me. I drees out my own red shirt and take on your red shirt instead of it.

Go LFC, I am in full support of you!..

Not exactly 2 players per position. We either have injury or lack quality in certain positions.

there is only one positon there that you dont mention 2 players so i think this is an argument that you wont win, but it seems tonight you are intent on arguing.

chill out mate

We beat AEK twice, beat Inter twice, drew with Barcelona at Anfield, we qualify, so would you say the Barcelona game at the Nou Camp is unimportant? Would you play Palletta and Peltier? After all we have qualified.

Yes, without a moment's hesitation.  The festive season's congested fixture list is upon us.  We're struggling in the league.  We've got some significant injuries in key positions.  And, we've got two very tough cup matches against a formidable side.  If we're already through to the next round of the CL, why anyone would consider fielding a full strength side in a dead rubber match is beyond me.

I didn't realise you had a crystal ball, how do you know we would of had injuries? Injuries are part of the parcel of football, its pointless wrapping players up in cotton wool. If they get an injury that's too bad, if we had spent our money wisely and bought quality instead of the likes of Zenden, Diao, Cheyrou, Diouf, Ferri etc then we wouldn't have to worry about injuries.

First, I never said anyone would get injured, only that it is a possibility.  It's not about going soft in the face of an ever-present potential for injury (your cotton wool analogy), it's about being smart about risk: given the low stakes in this match, playing the big names is simply not a risk worth taking.   Second, WTF does Zenden, Cheyrou, Diao, Diouf and Ferri have to do with anything?  It's not like any of them are in line to play if our key performers get injured.  And, how is criticizing our "lack of quality" a justification for risking key players in a meaningless game?  If anything, our lack of strength in depth justifies my approach, not yours.

You focus on one match at a time, that's Rafa's philosophy. Yes we have a congested fixture list, you don't have to tell me, I'm well informed, but again players should be fit enough in this day and age to handle the harsh and congested fixture list. We have a squad large enough to cope.

A.B.'s already explained the key injuries we have in key positions.  The list of those requiring treatment at Melwood at the moment is all the justification needed for playing a second-string team in Istanbul.

Yes, let's play our reserves and get battered four, five, six goals to a couple from us. Yet you're telling me to get a grip? It's not a friendly though, Bob. It was a European night, how you can sit there and say well it was a pointless match is also silly IMO.

Well, they didn't get battered did they?  No shame in losing by a goal to the Turkish champs on their patch, really.  And, they got vital match experience which may pay dividends later in the season.  You're right it wasn't totally pointless.  It had no bearing on our progress in the CL or on our reputation (despite what you seem to imply) but it was a chance to blood youngsters who we need to evaluate in the context of actual matches at the top level.  In fact, it was an ideal situation because you rarely get a chance to see how kids can cope with a European match.  Rafa will have learned a great deal about his fringe players, which is only a good thing.  So, yes, by all means get a grip and recognize that playing the reserves made 100% sense in this match.

I'm right, you're wrong, go and watch Hockey! How can anyone be satisfied with a loss is beyond me.

Ray walked into the dressing room, he sat down and said to Bill

"Sorry gaffer, I should of closed my legs" (This was a reference to goal he let in, in the first half)

Bill turned around and said

"Your mother should of closed her legs".

I share Bill's desire to win every match, you don't, that's where your flaw lies.

If we lose to Fulham, I will pay very close attention to how you react and what you post.

It wasn't so long ago, mate, in your former guise, that you were absolutely mullered for saying that you weren't that bothered when Liverpool lost.  Now, I see, you so want to be seen as the super-fan that you've taken the opposite tack.  Well, you can monitor my posts all you like.  I think you'll find that I always back the lads to win, never love it when we lose but have enough perspective to understand that sometimes you field a younger and less experienced team when the occasion calls for it and live with the result.

Absolute tosh, mate. When did I say I didn't care when I lost? The difference between me and you is, I know what Liverpool is, you don't. I feel miserable and angry when we lose, you obviously do not. I don't want to make this personal, but stick to watching the Maple leafs.

Fin!
