Man..... I was laid out on me bed the whole of last weekend with a stomach virus... missed the entire match as I couldn't get me @rse off the mattress, so me boy gave me a running commentary from the living room....

By his account, I missed a hell of a match where we actually ran riot over the opposition! About bloody time, lads!!!
Was also told that we had Xabi back and rafa had him partner Carra in the central midfield area.... which caused me no end of worry at 1st... but by me boy's account, we had Stevie in the middle of the park most of the time so I stopped worrying after the 1st 2 mins or so...

He also told me that it was time that I had a fork or two of humble pie, as Bellamy was having a blinder... something which I had never thought that he would ever do being a doubter of his ability in addition to opposing his signing....

So, as I had posted in the much earlier threads on Bellamy... This is me taking a huge bite of aforementioned pie!

CHOMP!!!!

Long may it continue.... keep proving me wrong Craig..... the pie doesn't taste half bad..... :D

I was pleased with Saturday's performance. Despite the fact Wigan should have scored three goals. We needed a bit of luck and were the better side. After the restart I thought we'd sit back and "control" the game and not score another because that's what usually happens with Rafa.

Bellamy was outstanding and he exploited the space magnificently, as well as stretching the play with his running. He was moaning a lot, as per. Gerrard was also fantastic and he was displaying determination coupled with vision and that has largely been missing from his game this season. Dirk was working his ar$e off and thanks to Bellamy's selflessness he managed to score his first away goal for us.

I don't like talk of turning corners as it gives me nightmares about 2003. Nevertheless, this was our most polished away performance of the season and it was nice to keep a clean a sheet, even if that was down to some luck and some woeful Wigan finishing. Pepe was outstanding at times, though.

Think of it as a monkey off the back rather than a turning of the corner. We've turned that many corners over the years I'm starting to get very dizzy...
