I really hope tomorrow night we sing our heart out. The Bordaeux game was quite subdued. I reckon we should show Europe we mean business again this year

"We know how to get at Liverpool. They have plenty of weaknesses, They often revert to kicking long ugly balls up to Peter Crouch. The manager's tactics change as soon as you frustrate his players and that is what we will be aiming to do on Wednesday.

"They have weaknesses in several places, especially in the gap between defence and midfield, and also at centre back.

"In one-on-ones, the two in the middle of defence are very good, but they cannot contribute to Liverpool's build up play. So we will focus on that. If you block them from deep they soon lose their rhythm and start playing those long balls up to Crouch."

got a point though hasnt he....amongst many others that need addressing. There's much work to be done, starting at Melwood tomorrow.

So proving my point right that we get more from Alonso with Agger in instead of Sami. Which clown argued this again??

Benítez defends record and targets top spot
Peter Lansley

On the eve of a game where, for once, the pressure is one notch down from its most intense, Rafael Benítez lowered his guard to offer an articulate defence of his record at Liverpool after a start to a season in which his team have come under criticism at almost every turn.

The failure to win an away match in the Barclays Premiership this season has brought the most stinging barbs — accompanied by a mid-table placing — but whether it is a club director attacking the manager’s rotation policy, the preference for playing Steven Gerrard on the right-hand side or even accusations of long-ball tactics from Jan Kromkamp, who returns to Anfield with PSV Eindhoven tonight, Bení tez could seem to be a man under pressure.

With qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League already assured for both teams, Anfield stages a contest for no more than the honour of winning group C and the possibility of a more favourable draw in the next round. So Benítez, while eager to top the section, was at his most relaxed as he faced up to his critics yesterday.

He will not be resting players with Saturday’s visit from Manchester City in mind. “No, we want to finish top of the group,” he said. “You can talk about this game or the next one away to Galatasaray (on December 5). I prefer to finish it here.

“We talk about pressure. We are professionals and we must improve and try to do the best in every game. But we are playing a lot of very good games. Sometimes when we talk about the team, we think it must be a terrible season. But after a third of the season, we are playing really well at home, we are qualified in the Champions League and we are in the Carling Cup (quarterfinals). So while the situation is not the best, I am sure we can improve.”

That the Dutch champions, three points clear in their own league, can find a place for Kromkamp, one signing who Benítez soon shepherded out of Anfield, represents their limitations, although Ronald Koeman, their manager, did end Liverpool’s European defence last season, masterminding Benfica’s 2-0 victory at Anfield.

GROUP C

Liverpool (probable; 4-4-2): J M Reina — S Finnan, J Carragher, S Hyypia, J A Riise — S Gerrard, X Alonso, B Zenden, L García — D Kuyt, P Crouch.

PSV Eindhoven (possible; 4-4-2): H Gomes — J Kromkamp, Alex, C Salcido, P Cocu — T Simons, E Méndez, M Da Costa, I Afellay — J Farfán, A Koné.

He will not be resting players with Saturday’s visit from Manchester City in mind. “No, we want to finish top of the group,” he said. “You can talk about this game or the next one away to Galatasaray (on December 5). I prefer to finish it here.

Sounds like hes going to play a strong team against PSV so I am going to stick with my 3 - 0 prediction .

We need the win - a draw would make it edgy going into the last group game.

Looking at the other groups it's a distinct advantage finishing top.

I've upgraded my internet connection to a 20Mbps/second one, but the bástards didn't send me the new router and the modem I have collapses every 5 minutes, meaning I can't watch the games properly, nor leave them downloading  I've missed last two games because of that and I feel like a drug addict, I want to watch Liverpool!

Please send your comments tonight, I'll read them!

Come on LiverpooL!

                     Reina

BBC Sport seem to think that Bellamy will get the nod up front as he needs match time to improve his form, therefore I think we'll see:

                       Reina

Finnan     Paletta     Agger     Warnock

Pennant     Gerrard     Alonso     Garcia

               Crouch      Bellamy

Subs: Dudek, Riise, Kuyt, Carragher, Gonzales

How on earth did this PSV player score this goal, the ball is spinning around like something from Sonic the hedgehog;

I hope our defence mark players properly, because I don't want one of those crashing in the back of the net.

Still though, it's not a patch on Crouch's scissor kick.
