Van Gaal is trying to do the same with AZ now. Not so much experience but a lot of very young great talents. Only problem is that it is hard to keep these players in the Dutch League. But thats just the way it is...

Thats why I am proud of PSV, if you look at who they lost the last years;
Robben (Chelsea), Rommedahl (Charlton Athl.), Kezman (Chelsea), Vogel (AC Milan), v. Bommel (Barcelona), Park (Man. Utd.), Lee (Tott. Hotsp.), Bouma (Aston Villa), Ooijer (Blackburn Rovers), Vennegoor of Hesselink (Celtic).

They might not all be stars now, but they were always in the starting line up for us. And most of them were part of the team, that made it to the semifinals of the CL the year the Reds won..

Very true.  That Ajax side was broken up and they lost so many players.  A lot went for free as well under the Bosman ruling so Ajax missed out on a lot of fee's.

What do u think of Hesselink?  Im half scottish and love Celtic.  His done very well for us just been injured.  Back now though and was very pleased we got him.

I think he is good player. Not the most talented player there is, but he always works hard and he scores. He is (or maybe was) underestimated in the Netherlands for years. But he always kept scoring goals for PSV, both nationally and in the CL. Probably he was underestimated for such a long time, because people compared him to other players like van Nistelrooij and Kezman (by PSV) and Kluivert, Kuyt, Huntelaar, Ruud as well (Dutch team).

He is a totally different player then the ones above. I think his qualities are perfect for the British leagues. I am really glad for him that he is doing well in Scotland. Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow against Man Utd.

Vennegoor was a good and very useful player, but I wouldn't change hem back. With koné and fárfán we are much stronger and more dangerous in attack.

At the moment I'm a little pessimstic about our form and I'm not as confident in the team as many other posters here. I dont know where they draw their confidence from because we have been shocking this season. But never the less I hope for an entertaining game and a Liverpool win.

I am confident Bamagaman because:-

1/ we have a great manager who WILL sort the problem out

2/ We havent played great but we have played well enough to beat teams like PSV. Hopefully we will have found our form before the knockout stages.

3/There were signs during the Mddlesborough game that it just needs a spark now to get us firing.

4/ We are at home

5/ We have too many good players to continue to play poorly.

6/ I have my fingers crossed and have said my prayers.

one point i would like tot take out of tht, were at home!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats the main one,we will win nno doubt ,u wont beat us at home ,no1 will be us at home this year

I'd take any win as PSV is a good side and Ronald Koeman will want to extend his no los record against Rafa. PSV should not be underestimated, as they did well to beat Galatasaray away and also recovered from being a goal down at home to Galatasaray.

got a point though hasnt he....amongst many others that need addressing. There's much work to be done, starting at Melwood tomorrow.

In the spirit of honest exchange I think we should let PSV know that Kromkamp is a lead-footed plodder who couldn't bear the thought of living above sea level for more than a season and who is really the flesh-and-blood incarnation of Hermey the Elf off of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." :D

come on, 3-0 is totally unrealistic (unless a player gets send off)

I think these are 2 sides who are pretty even matched up against eachother. It could go either way. I think we (PSV) are pretty confident to get a good result there, there's absolutely no pressure but everyone is motivated to make a good performance in Liverpool.

We have grown significantly since the 0-0 draw against you guys, we have Cocu back and our team has developed into a great disciplined side). PSV often plays good versus English teams (except Arsenal) because of their style of play, and I think our strikers will perform optimal with the space they get in your homegame. Liverpool had an absolutely shocker in the premier league and i've read that Benitez will rest some keyplayers. This makes me think we'll have a good chance. Players like Gomes, Alex, Salcido, Cocu are absolutely topnotch European players who would fit in in any premier league side at the moment. That completed with experienced players like Simons, Mendez (one of the 50 nominees for the Golden Ball), and some talented players like Da Costa, Afellay. Above that we have 2 very capable strikers, which are very strong with the ball and are very hard to defend.

My guess would be a 1-1 or a 1-2.

That aside, ofcourse my opinion is influenced and i'm subjective, but I can't understand you'll think we're going to be a walkover, with Benitez aiming to rest some players in the CL.

Looking forward to this, hope we can make it to the nr1 spot in the group! Good luck guys

Cheers!

before getting the winner against Bordeaux in France. Didier Drogba and Kaká lead the way with five goals.

• Steven Gerrard has had six shots on goal so far, five fewer than Kaká who has had the most.

• No outfield player either past or present has made as many UEFA Champions League appearances without scoring
as Reiziger.

• Patrick Kluivert, meanwhile, is within sight of his century of UEFA club competition appearances; the striker has
currently played 97 times although he is yet to feature in this season's group stage. Reiziger is also closing in on the
mark with 96 appearances, while Cocu has featured 116 times.

• PSV retained their position at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday by defeating SC Excelsior 4-0 at the PSV
Stadium. The home side took the lead midway through the first half when Koné headed in and just before the break
defender Alex made it 2-0 with a long-range drive. The Dutch champions then added two late goals through Farfán
and another strike from outside the penalty area by Salcido.

• Ecuadorian midfielder Méndez sat out the win because of suspension while Ismaïl Aissati and Mika Väyrynen
were missing with hamstring injuries.

• Better news concerns Kluivert, who is approaching full fitness from a knee injury.

• Brazilian Alex played his 100th game for PSV against Excelsior. The 24-year-old marked the milestone with his
fourth goal of the season.

• It was PSV's seventh successive clean sheet and their tenth victory in a row in all competitions. PSV are unbeaten
for 17 matches overall since losing 1-0 on 27 August against FC Twente. They are still some way from eclipsing the
club record for remaining unbeaten, however, which stands at 31 matches.

• Five days later PSV breezed into the last 16 of the Dutch Cup with a 4-0 win at BV Vitesse. On target were Koné,
Jason Culina, Farfán and Timmy Simons, captain in place of the rested Cocu.

PSV is a good team but...........
If LFC just plays to win there will be no doubt LFC will win this game. PSV is is depending on 4 key players. Farfan in the front, very fast and easy scoring. Cocu in the midfield (the director) but their best player is Alex. Strong ,intimidating and therefore a pain in the *ss for tecnical opponents. Last but not least there is Gomez who will be in 2 years the worlds best goalkeeper. Like I said when LFC play their game with the intention to win they will win it because PSV is not good against a team that works hard. I think the game will go to the team with the best midfield.
Liverpool (Gerard) PSV  2-0
:buttrock

P.S. Please have Kuyt playing to give their defence a hard time, the only way to beat Alex, Bellamy is to fragile

The way things are going in the league i think doing well in Europe will be our only saving grace.

Also with no concrete progession on the investment front its vital we go far to secure good funding for next year should we not qualify for next year. :(
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
