i have no words that can begin to know what karen and family are going through. o phil, i cant believe it now.

i am so sorry that i wasnt here, and found out later what happened. i'm gutted, totally gutted at his death.

i feel sure that he will live on in spirit, as his zest for life was a testament to his character. i have shed a tear or two.

RIP my friend

Dont know who delivered it or what time but thankyou from the bottom of my heart it will take pride off place on the top of Phil's casket and will be intombed with him forever.

Thank you so much.

Posted it on my way doen to the Emirates yesterday. Hope Karen and the family like it.

Members, please quit with the "well done" stuff, this thread is for Phil Karen and the family, what I did was nothing in the scheme of things.

Karen absolutely loves it Leon. She she said it was draped over his casket.

And I echo Leon's words, what has been done is the least that Phil deserved, whatever you do at this time seems so little.

Hi My Favourite People,     (This is 1 of 2 posts)

Sitting here in tears as usual but felt I needed to talk to you all especially with the funeral tommorrow, I know you will all be there in spirit and soul and your thoughts and prayers will bring us all the strength to help us through and lift Phil to the highest pedestal in heaven to which he justly deserves.
Gave him my last kiss tonight and I can still feel him on my lips but in Phils warm dignified manner he made us all feel at peace, he looked in a well deserved peaceful sleep and one could even see a little smile, he always promised to look after us even in death and I truly believe he is doing just that, his great warmth and love surrounds us and I feel humbled to have been loved by him like no other person as ever done and just hope and pray he knows how much he truly meant to me. During the past few months we reclaimed the love and closeness that was once being eaten away by the frustrations of life, the card we were dealt was cruel and uncalled for but we faced it together our love growing stronger each day until the bond we now hold will never ever be broken, I will honour his memory close to my heart for the rest of my life and find comfort knowing one day we will be together again at peace as one.
I thought you may wish to know a little of the service tommorrow so at midday you can feel apart of it in soul even if not possible to be there in person. Phil chose "If I Can Dream" by Elvis Presley to be played on entry to the church.
We then sing Abide With Me, after the Rev. Sue's reading (she is the Rev. who married us) we will listen to a live recording of the Kop followed by us singing YNWA accompanied by a recorded version of the fans singing it.
Prayers and blessings will be followed by "How Great Thou Art". And the Rev. will be reading out a poem written by Phil's

brother (Peter). And the "Show Must Go On" will be played while leaving the church.  Phil requested all the songs and music hisself and I have tried to follow his wishes as much as possible and he will be buried according to his wishes, wearing his No.9 kit and kept warm by his much loved LFC bedcover and pillowcase and his banner will have place of honour draped over his casket. Have also given him his drumsticks so he can drum to his hearts content on the pearly gates.
I will ask our friend Carl to scan and post the service sheet asap so you can see the fitting tribute to you wonderful people.

I carry your grief but also redemning love to Phil's funeral and you will be in my prayers.

Take Care

very touching reading your words karen, i am amazed by your dignity in this time, and that you take the time to log in here and obviously discuss it with phils family so they can also log in is amazing.
sorry i wont be there today as I live in Thailand now, but i will think of you all on this day and will stop what i am doing at 12 oclock (7pm here and remember him).

this morning a made merit and gave food to the buddhist monks and they said a prayer, only a small gesture i know but i hope it helps in some way

Peace my heart...

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

Rest in Peace

Because I could not stop for Death

BECAUSE I could not stop for Death--
He kindly stopped for me--
The Carriage held but just Ourselves--
And Immortality.

We slowly drove--He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labour and my leisure too,
For His Civility--

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess--in the Ring--
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain--
We passed the Setting Sun--

Or rather--He passed Us--
The Dews drew quivering and chill--
For only Gossamer, my Gown--
My Tippet--only Tulle--

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground--
The Roof was scarcely visible--
The Cornice--in the Ground--

Since then--'tis Centuries--and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses Heads
Were toward Eternity--
