On a different note - who else thought that Agger coming on was the final passing of the baton from Hyypia. I dont mean that this is the end of Hyypia but that Agger has to become the man now.

Everton the only club that can lose at home against Villa and still feel good because someone else lost!
What a sad bitter club that is!

At least we lost to Arsenals first team away not their kids at home!

Why on earth would I bring an "OOT" comment into our discussion? It's not relevant. I wouldn't want an Ambramovich figurehead throwing his money about the place, because its people like him, who represent all the things wrong with football as a sport and you can kiss good bye to any creditability we would receive for winning trophies. I don't want us to be carbon copies of Chelsea. We are far too good for all of that and we have history and traditions.

Istanbul was magical because the under dogs came out on top and came back when things looked bleak, can you honestly say it would of been magical if we had £300,000,000 pounds worth of players on the pitch? I certainly can't.

SWP is nothing more than a mercenary, he could of came to us or Arsenal (where he'd win things too) but he chose Chelsea and that speaks volumes for him a person, I'm glad we didn't sign him, no matter how good his ability is and no matter how much potential he has shown. Simao is no better than Pennant, only difference is Simao can score some wonderful goals, he is also overrated. Joaquin was way out of our price range and he is like Luis Garcia, hit and miss, one match he can be on song and other matches he's non-existent.

You're wake up and get a grip comment has made me lose any respect for your opinions on this matter and the fact you want to see media hyped players like Ronaldinho is a Liverpool shirt shows me that you are just another modern day fan who is too impatient to wait for success but wants to get an Ambramovich figure for "quick success". You say that a multi-billionaire investor will get us trophies and players, at the same time it can back fire and plunge the club into mass amounts of debt and create an unpleasant atmosphere, you have to weigh up the pros and cons, the pros are the possibility of winning the league time after time and other trophies to boot, the cons are Chelsea FC, no respect from the opposition and possible administration when the investor gets bored and wants a change.

Sell Gonzales after one indifferent season? I'll put your strange comments down to anger and disappointment after our defeat, but Gonzales is new and is still adapting, I doubt he will be sold and who will we replace him with? Vicente? Ze Roberto?

I'd much rather win trophies by using this method;

The sad thing about today for me wasnt only the defeat but the reminder of how we once played. Fast accurate passing, good movement, confident first touch. Everything that was once Liverpools copyright has now passed to Arsenal. We looked lumbering and slow our passes too often desperate or predictable, with no vision or movement off the ball.

Yes we are better than most teams and will climb the league, but we need more than this if we are ever to win the epl.

Very disappointing--but Rafa still has 2 or 3 years to deliver on the PL. In the meantime we've still been taking plenty of trophies. Give him the full 5 or 6 years before getting too judgemental. If he can win the PL just once in that time then with the other successes, his period in charge will have been a major advance.

They are so predictable now away from home, never look like scoring and once they concede the first goal, it's game over. I feared the worst after 15 minutes and thought to myself: 'We're going to get slaughtered here.' Time and time again, Gonzalez and Zenden gave the ball away. Stevie G on the right never got the chance to get involved and surprise, surprise, when he was switched inside his first contribution was to have a shot at goal. I couldn't believe that Rafa started with Zenden, a wimp who is following in the footsteps of Vladimir Smicer as a player who will not put his foot in. (same goes for Gonzalez and Pennant - players like this do my head in.)

Rafa got it wrong today in so many areas.

1- playing Sami Hyypia from the start - Put Agger beside Carragher and leave him there for Christ's sake. Hyypia was at fault for the second goal. Liverpool were keeping possession quite well before Sami decides to zip a flat 30-35 yard pass into Crouch's feet. Easily picked off by Arsenal, Toure nips in behind Hyypia and hey presto, we're 2-0 nil down.

2- starting with Bolo Zenden in midfield. What the hell does Rafa see in this bloke? Can somebody please tell me? By the time he decided to change it, putting Gerrard and Alonso in the middle together and bringing on Pennant, it was far too late.

3- starting with Gonzalez on the left. Okay, I'll hold my hands up here and admit that I felt it would be right to go with this lad but how long do we have to wait for some good form? He gave the ball away time and time again and Eboue easily had the better of him for pace. He doesn't seem to have any tricks for a winger and he's afraid to put his foot in.

Okay, three is enough but once again, it's down to a lack of form from key players again. The Gerrard argument about where he should play is irrelevant in a way because the simple fact of the matter is that he's just not playing well. Carra is well below par, ditto Steve Finnan and Alonso just isn't doing it away from home. Kuyt huffed and puffed and once again, Crouch struggled to perform against decent opposition (how many times has this happened?)

Good buddy of mine texted to express his view that slowly but surely, we are starting to see Houllier-esque signs of stubborness from Rafa. It seems to me that be insisting on playing Gerrard on the right, Rafa is saying that he's the boss, and not Gerrard. There's a good argument for not playing him in the centre against a player like Fabregas of course because if Gerrard goes too far forward, as he's inclined to do, there are big holes left behind. But come on, he's a much better option to do a job on Fabregas and get in his face than someone like Zenden...

Very worrying signs and the sight of Riise and Gerrard arguing about who was supposed to be picking up Gallas when he headed in totally unmarked from six yards isn't great to see either. Worrying signs, worrying signs. We're 9th now, one point ahead of Reading to put things into perspective. I'm a blind optimist but today, any slim hopes of competing for the Premiership ended. And at this rate, we'll struggle to make the Champions League. Rant over....

Awful result away from home again, thought for the first half hour we were ok but once they scored we were poor. The underlying fact is that the confidence of the team is very fragile and once we go behind, we are unable to recover.

It's very disappointing, knowing that if your team loses the first goal, there's almost no chance of getting a result.

Thought Alonso was our best player, he always wanted the ball and didnt give it away much, Kuyt too kept going all game. It may well be that we have played our hardest away games already but I agree with others that have posted in that we should have got some points from these games. To have lost 5 away games out of 6 is simply shocking.

We need to go for broke now and start building for next season, Agger has to be given a starting place and we need to persist with Gonzales on the left.

In summary, the title is gone for this season (again!) and we're left hopin g for some decent cup runs. Sounds familiar.

sorry but i cant seem to remember when you lot last won anything, worry about your own club because your an embarrassment to it.

its really sad when you get more pleasure from us losing than seeing your own team winning.
