It is not really comparable. Bolton lost their form before they played Unt and Nolan the best player in their team was suspended.

they hadnt lost their form before utd at all.... they won their 3 previous league games before utd. Yes nolan was out, but it still finished 4-0, and thats still impressive away from home against a physical bolton side

Are you having a laugh? Arsenal have been P*ss poor this season at home and I think the only wins have been against promoted clubs. Today they weren't even that good, we were just :censored:.

I refuse to blame the fixture list for our results this year as well, if wwere going to win the league we would have beaten Sheffield away (like chelsea did to Wigan last season) and we would have beaten Bolton away (again like Chelsea did last season). Against Arsenal, Manure and Chelsea away we should have got at least 2-3 points if we were gonna win the title but we didn't even look like getting 1.

That’s the problem, we were never good enough to win the league this season, fans had unrealistic expectations.

We should be good enough to be top 4 not languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Thats not an unrealistic expectation especially as we spent £30million "strengthening" our team.

Bav, why do you keep bringing up investors? We have two of the best people running club, who have kept our traditions, I wouldn't want a Glazer or Ambramovich buying to the club. The fact of the matter is we have the players, but they aren't performing and as Ciggy rightfully points out they lack passion, grit and determination.

Two fuckin right, when the likes of the bitters and Bolton are above us.

We should be beating these two shitehawk clubs away from home aswell.

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

agree with saint.

i too didnt expect to win the league. i thought utd would give chelsea more of a run this year and thats that. But we should still be good enough to be challenging for 3rd with arsenal, not down in 9th place with a negative goal difference

I will detach my ball bag from my body with a rusty screwdriver if we don’t finish in the top 4.

Oh talk about getting behind the team, it hasnt even kicked off yet.
Pennant has done nothing so far this season to deserve a starting place in this tough fixture, he leaves Finan exposed and today we cannot afford to carry any passengers.
Save the moaning until after the game if we get beat.

I was being sarcastic.

You know what mate call me an ooter if you want but i wouldnt mind an Abramovich. (not a Glazer as hes borrowed all hismoney and the club is in big debt) becasue im concernd for the well being of the club in 10 years time.

What happened in Instanbull was a once in a lifetime moment and thats just it. We can be pulling of those sort of games every season.

If we had the proper investment to start with then maybe we would have gone for better players like SWP, Simao or Joaquin not reliying on a player who had postential but whos almost :censored: away his career thanks to alcohol abuse.

Mate you need to wake up and get a grip. Yes Rafa can bring the best out of players but this isnt always going to work and you need to on occasion spend a bit and not go with unproven players.

If Gonazales continues like this I can see Rafa selling him come the end of the season.

Don't know how to quote pople so I will paraphrase (could someone let me know how to for next time?).

If we "matched them" (Cool H luke)  in the first half I don't know what being outplayed is. They were constantly threatening, constantly harrying, consistently outpassing us and giving our back four more and more panic attacks.

Our problem is the cr-p we have bought -

Pennant - garbage , bellamy - garbage, Zenden- garbage, Aurelio- average,

None of them would get a look in in any top four side and therefore we are not going to be a top 4 side in all probability unless there is some serious injection of cash for January transfers.

I for one cannot wait for a decent , reasonable takeover without compromising the LFC values (if that's not a pipe dream)

Also, people on here who just think its about performance are not reading the body language in my opinion. There appears to be total lack of self belief running through the team right now. I never ever expect us to come back if a team scores first against us these days ,irrespective of who they are.

Also RB has to get it right with SG.I believe his lack of form is partly due to being on the right and then wodering what the f--k when he's put into the middle at 2-0 down. Robbie Earl summed it up nicely on commentary when he said .." If you moved him (SG) into the middle whe  you're two down and need a goal why didn't you start himthere in the ifrst place???

Please lets's  NOT use last season as an arguement for this strategy. WHy?  Because his 20+ goals were not scored standing on the Right MIdfield. They were scored when he got back in the middle.

ALSO and FAR MORE imprtantly where has SG PROVED himself season in and season out for 8 long years? Where has he been when dragging LFC to 3/4 th spot regularly under Houllier aided and abetted by one Michael Owen? Centre Mid- one season at RM and lots of people think we've "discovered" SG ...absolute b----ks . I say it now and will look back in May. If SG is not back in the middle regularly and soon we will be 6/7th at best. Also I am 90% sure he will ask to leave next Summer , if not before.

Afraid to say that last year at RM and a hatful of goals was a fluke, a one off , not to be repeated as it was a novelty and teams found him hard to pick up. Now they are wise to it and just overcrowd us in midfield .

With Momo out there is not one logical reason I can think of to play SG on the right  (please help me if you have one). On that basis Rafa has to shoulder the blame . once again it HAs to be asked would Ferguson, Moaning ho or any other top manager( Wenger too) play SG anywhere other than CM?

If you don't know the answer ask yourself...how many times would Roy Keane play RM no matter who the oposition, no matter what the situation? Answer - 0 or less..why? Because you can't fit a foot into a glove and expect it to function like a hand.

The sooner SG gets back in the mddle with a run of games the faster we move up the table. We then need to get quality investment in ASAP and get all the above named driftwood sold.

It has been a tough start to the season that has fallen below EVERYONES expectations. I thought we would be within 5 points of the leaders having unexpectedly lost some points while integrating £30 Mil worth of talent into the squad.

But things have been worse than expected, partly down to a very tough fixture list while integrating this new talent, partly down to over rotation and partly down to players simply not being on good form.

Rafa’s teams are always highly tactical and this one of the reasons players will take longer to adjust, but we saw the sort of results that we can end up having once things get settled.
