ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Today reminded me of Liverpool against Forest when we won 5 -0 with Barnes, Beardsley etc. Only then we were the pass and move team and today Arsenal were.

The problem with having an inspirational skipper is when he doesnt inspire we look clueless.

Back to the drawing board now Rafa. :(

1). Lack of width. We have no "wingers" in the team that are worth a damn. As a result the field is narrow which equals back passes and lost possession in the midfield. This is probably 60% of our problems at the moment.

2). Lack of effort. We are simply not getting into support positions fast enough especially in the final 3rd of the field which means that the strikers do not have much support and as a result they struggle. If you watched Arsenal, they attacked as a unit and defended as a unit. We definately did not do that today.

3). Lack of quality. We just didn't have anyone today that looked like they could make things happen. I don't fault the team selection of Rafa today becuase I like Zenden over Pennant. I am not sure about Gonzo over Garcia though. Rafa needs to stop buying decent players and start picking up players one by one that can really make a difference. Arsenal this summer did just that: Rosicky and Gallas are class. We picked up Jermaine FKING Pennant.

I agree with the signing point.  Arsenal didnt sign many players but the ones they did sign were World Class.

Laughable

Mock me if you wish mate but where are we. Just do a quick calucultion and based on how many away games weve won this year, where do you think we will be come the end of the season?

You said after 5 years we'd be in limbo.

My response was - laughable

No but if we carry on like this how do you think we would function without European football.

Say for instance (and i know this is extreme) that we dont qualify for the CL for the next 2 years how long do you think it will be before Stevie leaves or Rafa is sacked. And if Rafa were to go how long do you think it would be before players like Alonso leave?

It would an absolute disaster if they do not make it into the CL next year.

Hugging f.uckin Henry whats that all about they are our rivals, we should have held their willys wilst they had a p.iss at half time aswell.
Talk about showing a team respect we where terrified of them.
It seemed that the whole team where watching Henry in awe.

Until we get a mean streak and start showing some f.uckin passion we wont be winning any league in my life time.

We have our five hardest away games out of the way, without a single point or goal and having conceeded 11 against them, AND THATS THE PLUS POINT!  :D

I watched the match ..... Liverpool were $#@! ..... What is Rafa thinking when he put SG on the Right and Zendan in the Center .....

It was either Zenden in the center or Garcia/Pennant on the right. Pick your poison.

How many times do we see our fullbacks ahead of the play/ball?
We always seem to react to the pass rather than be moving in anticipation.
We're looking dis-jointed, not a team with a pattern just a group of individuals.
Hopefully this is the calm before the storm, it cant really get much worse-caned by The :censored:. ManUsa, The bitters an Bolton before half way in the season aint good, so chin up boys an girls!! :upside:

We seemed to lack the aggression or the urgency to get back to the games when the chips are down. This liverpool team is got to be one of the slowest team in the premiership. It's just like watching a group of mid-thirties stroking the ball around the park and then got tore apart by a team way physically and technically better. I think the team is in a real slump now, no shape, no defending, passing is poor and strikers starved of any service.

So another dissapointing game away from home.

Looking at it realistically, we will face a big challenge to finish in the top 4 this season. We cant take any points from the top 3 teams, we are simply not good enough, and really need to be ontop of our game to get a point.

Saying that we have played utd, chelsea, arsenal and bolton away doesnt mean a thing if we dont take any points from those games. Arsenal have already won their away match against utd, so although utd dropped 3 points, they are still top, and arsenal picked up 3 points at old trafford. - so both sides did ok after that! Utd won 4-0 at bolton... so they can go there and get a result, we cant.

the excuse that we've had our toughest away games doesnt mean a thing if we lose them all because thats like saying we expected to lose those games... its a watford excuse, a charlton excuse.... not a liverpool excuse. We should be winning or drawing against arsenal or utd away... but we dont - why?

Because we are simply not good enough. Chelsea apart (as they just buy-in their quality) Arsenal had a bad start to the season, but since beating utd, they have been exceptional, passing, carrying the ball... looking like a really good footballing side. we are simply not that good.

Pennant, Zenden, bellamy while good, are not premiership winning material. aurelio and gonzalez need time to adapt and gonzo still has alot to learn. At this moment in time they are not premiership winning quality. Hyypia is solid as a rock, but is starting to look slightly jaded in a few games, he can be motm in some games then get confused in his partnership with cara in other games. - He doesnt seem like he can be 100% dependable every single game like he used to be.

I know you need money to buy decent players and we dont have the finances. So maybe we need better scouts.... look at arsenal... how much money have they spent on players like Eboue, Toure, Adebayor, Fabregas, Clichy, Rosicky, Helb, Flamini. Its wrong that they are all foreign and they practically have no englishmen what-so-ever, but good quality players can be found for very little money, if you have the right scouts.

We need ball carriers desperately. Good ball carriers (sorry pennant)... players like giggs, ronaldo, robben, SWP, Lennon, Fabregas, Flamini, Van Persie...even Eboue who was awesome going down the flanks as a wingback

Its funny how some people only choose to post when we lose? You know who you all are.

Our problems are no were near as deep rooted as some people are suggesting. We were outdone today by the best footballing side in England on their own turf. We more than matched them in the first half but a conceding a poor goal cost us.

We seem to be having problems in midfield at the moment, Alonso is the only player for me who is having an impact in games. Gonzo is struggling to find any consistency with in games and Gerrard is struggling period.

We have a good squad of players and no rash reactions are needed. It’s just about sorting out problems with individual players.

Robbie Fowler needs to be playing right now as well.

The problem is RAFA .... we all know recently he been link with some clubs in Italy ... If he agrees to go ... he need to pay some money to Liverpool but if he keep losing and Liverpool have no choice to sack him. On top of that Liverpool still need to pay him ....
