Our we as a forum going to support this motion - RTK - Reclaim the Kop?

I am all for it and glad to see people starting to sit up and take notice. I'm fed up of going the game and hearing the opposition outsinging us during the game. I am unfortunate to sit in the Main Stand for European nights but spend most league matches in the Kop. The Kop has lost its sparkle. Lets get it back.

Step One is your own contributions as to the worst offences.

Step Two is a mass-flyer excercise, politely explaining why these things won't be tolerated any more.

And Step Three is, long term, let's find a RAOTL home where like-minded people can have a drink without having to take a deep breath and, once again, explain to some tit from Cork why we don't read The Sun. Enough.

I realise I'm extremely fortunate to get to pretty much every LFC game in a typical season. Last season i made all 19 Away games in the Premiership and around 11 home games............

In terms of atmosphere I much prefer the away games. Theres usually around 3,000 of us and although we are outnumbered we are rarely outsung.

Seating hasn't helped and over zealous stewards don't exactly promote vociferous support these days but I'm not sure the halyicon days of a swaying Kop will ever return.

That said if I had to pick out the one game which was my personal best having watched LFC for many years I'd go for the 2005 European Cup Semi Final against Chelsea. It wasn't just that Istnabul awaited the victors that night but the realisation that for once in a a very long time the supporters knew and believed that they could make a difference and actually affect the performance and therefore the result on the night. I wasn't at the St Etienne game in 77 so I can't make a comparison (and its subjective anyway I suppose) but that night was simply astonishing in terms of support.

I'd have liked to suggest methods or plans which might help but I happen to believe that initiatives and premeditated action plans are unlikely to bring about a long term change.

Finally as a LFC fan who does travel to many away games and therefore has sampled the "home" support at every ground in the Premiership and had to endure stuffed animals (Mascots to the uninitiated) trying to pump up the crowd, PA systems that give sound a bad name and banal ditties when the teams enter the arenas you are left with the abiding thought that it could be far worse at Anfield than it is at present ....Far worse !! ???

Best Away Grounds in the Prem for atmospehere - West Ham , WBA, Blackburn and Villa

Worst - Middlesborough, Man City, Newcastle and Bolton.

up date from the RAOTI.co.uk
Things are moving pretty fast. There has no been concrete decision to keep it to just those who turned up Saturday. It's just that with the 1st contact with LFC being this week we have to keep the group that meet them (people from the official site) to a managable number. Its all very broad brush strokes here and nothing will be decided; we're just making initial contact and outlining what the RTK's basic gripes are. Its not elitist - if you want to help out or attend 'get togethers' then make contact at raotl.co.uk.

The 'campaign' (for want of a better word) is still taking shape and I don't think it should tackle a lot of the subjects that people have raised - we are basically looking at improving the atmosphere and promoting the traditions and practices that have made Liverpool's support special. These traditions are being eroded, we have to make a stand and try and halt this. The positive action we are promoting is there for one aim and one aim only - to make us ALL proud of being a Liverpudlian, and proud of the unique place we hold as supporters.

We're not elistist, nor do we seek to exclude anyone, despite some of the criticisms emanting from other sites. However, there are practices and actions seen inside Anfield that do not belong there.

Back in the 90s when we were losing the old Kop, a similar group to the RTK took the notion that if we didn't try and celebrate The Kop then we were doomed to go out with a whimper. Some of Britain's oldest and better known terraces (The Stretford End, The North Bank, The Holte End) passed away with barely a mention. The Kop's Last Stand in 1994 will go down in the annals as one of the GREATEST EVER DAYS on a football terrace. This only happened because some fans got off their :censored: and organised something; they cared and they made a difference. A season-long campaign saw a rebirth of the atmosphere inside Anfield and the birth of the 'FlagDay' something that was directly responsible for the banners and flags that adorned the Ataturk. Without the heritage of days like 'The Kops Last Stand' - and movements like 'Keep Flags Scouse' - then Istanbul 05 might have been so different.

David Moores' greatest utterance was "Liverpool FC exists to win trophies and to be a source of pride for its supporters". We should be supporters the club can be proud of. This club does not exist to make shareholders wealthy, nor massage the ego of a wealthy chairman - it exists because we will it. Without us the club is nothing - that is a great responsibility. We can not fail

Superb Link Rafa.

I took a look and was encouraged by what I read.

However what doesn't encourage me is the my futile attempts to get our Flag displayed at Home Games on the KOP. Allow me to explain.

Towards the end of last season we had a flag designed for the FA Cup Final. Its nothing too ostentatious. A 20ft by 10ft Red Flag emblazonned with the liver bird in the middle (We are still undecided on what to have printed on it).

I've took it several times this season to League games yet have failed to display it due to "Health and Safety" issues (The stewards words not mine). I sit in Block 109 on the KOP (Just underneath the Scoreboard) and wanted to drape the flag over the balcony but have been stopped on each occasion I've tried or asked to remove it. There is no advertisement hoardings there so blocking them is not an issue.

Its a sad day when this great club hides behind health and safety issues when there is none and doesn;t allow fans to display their support.

Good luck with the campaign. I hope for all our sakes it's successful.

Walk on ...........
