Stand up sit down - Talk sport phone in

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

as a night worker i listen to a lot of talk sport which leads to talking to yourself and nearly smashing into the back of cars

the other night they took a call from some women who is leading a campaign called stand up, sit down which is calling for terracing to be allowed back into the english game as football is be killed by high prices and apathy from fans who feel that they are there to be entertained,

ray houghton went straight to the issue of hillsborough and crowd trouble to say that it will never happen, but imo with the advances in cctv and policing in this country the crowd trouble is out of the window,
as for hillsborough it was many different issuses that led to that terrible day where 96 people lost there lives at a football game which can never be repeated,

but as someone who stood on the kop from the age 11, i never ever felt in danger as everyone looked out for you, the sense of unity and passion can never be recreated whilst the seats remain

yes their needs to be a family area where people can go and not be pushed and pulled about

yes away fans need to be seated to aid to coppers do their job

but people need to realise that the crowd do play a big part in a game and clubs need to see that people still stand at ever corner and free kick

as a crowd you are there to back the team, it is not the flicks where you pay to be entertained, one chavski fan rang in moaning that he took his kids aged 5,7,9 and they could hardly see and the swearing was terrible and that there was no half time entertainment for the kids

feck off,was my reaction but it is not just chavski, how many people are at the game with there camera phone out with there wags on a date,

these people are why the atmosphere is dying at the footy,

they could make all the standing season ticket holders which would stop anyone going on the pitch and stop away fans getting in

i know this issue will split a lot of people but what do you think?

times have changed though and now if you bump into a 14 year old he'll pull a knife on you while his mate video's it on his mobby as you lay in a pool of your own blood/sh!t/p!ss.

here`s the link to the site in question.

stand up sit down

i was on there awhile back when they where trying to get more Liverpools fans to join, if i remember rightly they where allowed to post on rawk to put there point over.

i dont see a problem with it myself and i know from going to the odd game that alot of liverpool fans stand up at games.

i dont think anyone is asking for the days of the kop to be brought back but i cant see why we cant have an area like the paddock standing, plus as it would be for home fans only then there would be no need for any area being penned.

seriously i used to stand on the kop when i was younger and it was an honour to be there. but as i got a little older i felt i actually wanted to watch the game and started to sit in the stands.

when the kop changed ni was worried that the atmosphere will never be the same and in general its not, howevr it can still be, one of my last games before moving to asia was against Roma, geds return from illness and the atmosphere was very special, however i seem to remember the old kop every game had a special atmosphere, but now its only particular games.

its a hard one to call to be fair, there are pluses and minuses for both.
