Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Hypia, Gerrard, Aurelio , Gonzo, Alonso, Kuyt, Finnan, Riise will definetly not feature at all tonight Bamaga Man.

Rafa said today " If we dont win this match, we dont have the squad to compete for 4 trophies"

Pretty much means , a very weakened squad and he aint arsed about the result.

I would of thought some sort of confidence boost is needed.

All the fans need to do is sing "We Can Work It Out" by the greatest band to ever grace music and that should spur things along quite nicely. Or we could just win the match.

Was just reading on .tv an interview with a guy from a Reading fanzine. This guy doesnt reckon Steve Coppell will be taking the Carling cup too seriously, as their squad isnt very big and their current priority is staying in the prem.

We already know that Rafa will be using a number of fringe players tonight, which, to be honest, im quite excited about. Gives us a chance to see how some of the lads who won the youth cup last year fare in a competitive senior match - particularly Paul Anderson and Craig Lindfield. We've had some awesone players come through the ranks over the years and, i, for one, am always interested to see who the next ones will be.

I know that Reading will be no push-overs tonight, but as word is they'll be resting some of their key players, i'm expecting us to win by two clear goals at least. ill be betting on 3-1

Im disapointed that hes not going to play Fowler and Kuyt together tonight. I think we need a win and Rafa knows it and wont let us down. Woof said it was a no win game tonight, which just about sums it up for the fans, for the team I think its a must win game.

We desperately need not only a win but a solid 90mins performance. Something we have yet to see this season. Ferguson said after we beat them in the FAcup last season that Liverpool only played for 10 minutes and won the game. Sour grapes I thought at the time, but I havent seen a solid 90 min performance from Liverpool once this season. Probably the nearest I have seen was at Chelsea (when we raised our game) or against a very very poor Newcastle side (when we didnt need to raise our game)

I stick by my very optimistic 4 - 0 but I want to see us play well for 90 mins as well.

C'mon you REDS!!!!

We need a win badly for the morale of the team....

Here's hoping that the Gaffer takes this one seriously and fields a reasonably strong squad.....
Give at least one of our youngsters a run from the outset... Preferably Paul Anderson.... Let's see if the lad's good enuff to give Pennant a run for his money as Stevie's back-up on the right... (from Rafa's recent press conferences... I've resigned myself to the fact that he wont be playing in the middle of the park this season unless injuries or a change in tactics is required in the middle of the game..) If the lad puts in a decent showing and by all accounts from mates, whose opinion I value, back home, he's got real potential... then it may just be the wake-up call that Pennant needs.... Plus I'm dying to see who's gonna be the next bright young star from the academy...

Well chuffed that Robbie's playing too.... Strong advocate of the Fowler-Kuyt tandem up front but looks like Dirk's gonna be rested for this one... shame...

May also be time to give Paletta a run-in but hopefully from the bench in the 2nd half when we're up one or two goals..... I think that Carra needs a break and he may not have fully recovered form the injury at the start of the season....

C'mon boys!!!! Show them the meaning of playing with heart and whoop their sorry behinds back to Reading!!

coz, me heart and mind cannot take another display like the one we showed against the Scum..... :(

Hope Rafa fields a strong line up tonight, I'm all for making players work for their money, because it's a "minor" trophy these days doesn't mean all first teamers have a God-given right to a rest....
C'mon fella's, give us a morale boosting win......!!!
