Bring back steven gerrard - Where has our hard tackling leader gone?

Under Houllier, and in Benitez first season, Stevie G was one of the best central midfielders in the country. Slightly behind Keane and Viera but with the promise of much much more to come as he matured.

He tackled like a lion, drove liverpool forward, and inspired an average Liverpool team to CL success. Ok he didnt score as many goals as he should have done, but what a player when he was on his game.

Gerrard says "I was put on this earth to steam into tackles. For most professionals, tackling is a technique. For me, its an adrenaline rush.I never hold back in a tackle . I can't. I put my heart and soul into it".

When was the last time you saw Gerrard doing that in a game ?

He scored 23 goals last season but 7 of those were against TNS and FBK Kaunas. He actually scored only 10 league goals last season,as against 7 league goals the previous season when played in central midfield.

This is not about where Gerrard plays but about getting the best out of him. If he plays right midfield and plays well great. The problem is hes not playing well on the right ,and when he played in the centre against Blackburn he didnt even look interested!

We need to get Gerrard back tackling ,snarling and smashing into tackles like he used to. Gerrard is no Zidane or Ronaldinho, but hes probably the best hard tackling, hard shooting, driving midfield player in the world. Lets see him let off the leash, lets see him roaring forward crashing through tackles and smashing the ball into the net.

I want my hard tackling Stevie Gerrard back!

i just think under rafa he has realised we will never win or even challenge for the league

stevie wants the league badly and knows that under rafa we will never be good enough

rafa is brilliant tactically in the champions league and in spanish league but he hasnt worked it out yet in the premiership

this is the team i want, lets get a british base back (players who know what it means to win the big rival games)

pennant needs to play attacking right mid to cause any trouble, yesterday when he came on his starting position was more like a wing back, no winger can do it from that deep

Someone ban this homo fella. He talks :censored: and lives in a fantasy football world. Go posting inthe wonderful world of W*nk section.

The saint is bang on. I want to see the old stevie back, the tackler, enforcer, passer, box to box engine. Sort it out rafa and stevie sought your head out. If it's the missus then give her the heave ho or stop her from being a celeb and start being a wife.

Your posts are getting worse mate, I dont know how its been confirmed that in Stevies mind Rafa will ever be good enough. Thats your opinion not Stevies, I'd just like to ask you question, how much time was Sir Alex Ferguson given before he won anything at United. This is Rafas third season FFS I bet you hailed him as the greatest in may 25 , 2005.

i agree i put this in another thread but backs what you've just said

I never thought we would win the EPL this year due to the amount of new signings made. If you take a look at the team (which 11 rafa decides to put out:D ) there will normally be 3 / 4 players that are in their first reason or just breaking into the team (Agger).

I think this is the season he's rotating the squad so much so the new players get game time early on in the season and hopefully this will then mean that around xmas time all the new players will be used to the EPL and he can pick the best 11 but also have a bench of players that are all settled into the EPL.

This squad is now completely Rafa's so we are finally having a season (months hopefully) of transition last season we still had players here that rafa used but didn't really fit into rafas idea's for the team.

I like alot of you think the most important thing this year is CL qualification and anything else is a bonus

not throwing in the towel just saying that if we don't win the EPL this season then it's nothing to worry about.

I am starting to wonder if this guy is a Liverpool supporter or is he a  Blueshite in disguise. Utter toss everyone of his posts.

Whatever is going on inside Stevie G's head the last thing the guy needs is the fans getting on his back. I guess we have all gone into work not really 100% focussed on the job at hand. If he is having probs at home with the other half lets leave the guy alone to sort it out. As someone once said
"FORM IS TEMPORARY, CLASS IS PERMANENT"
Would doubt any of you would say Stevie is not CLASS

Agree with you s@int I wanted to post a similar thread a few days ago, because i felt it isn't Stevie of last year! He isn't doing well and I really hope he gets his head up and goes back to his best next week!

nice one s@int...

i really miss the steven gerrard of the flying tackles and the man that took the matche's by the scruff of the neck...

towards the end of houllier's reign gerrard really was a one man army...

how much do we need that man back...

some people here wouldn't mind gerrard being sold  [you need to see a doctor]

make no mistake gerrard is our best player,  i just hope he proves some of you wrong...
