Well put Ciggy, a post truly from the heart.

I'll give you a few positives though (as I am ever the optimist):

* 3 Points
* Almost certain qualification from the group
* Clean Sheet (albeit fuck knows how :D )
* An away win (at last)
* An away goal (ditto)

Last year when we had a bad start, we came out of it and went on an incredible run - that run started with an uninspiring 1-0 win.

We need to keep our chins up - through the wind and the rain an' all that.

Roll on sunday!

Winning ugly is still winning and at this stage I'll take it.  We've played much, much better than this and lost this season so it's job done and roll on United.  Hopefully we can build on the several positives from this game (I too am an optimist):

1) A clean sheet (Hallelujah!)
2) Another goal from a corner
3) A headed goal from Crouchy
4) The return to fitness of two key players: Kuyt and Sissoko
5) A commanding position in the group

It's all well and good saying we need to play more attractive, dominating football but we need to crawl before we can walk.  The good result will help calm the nerves and re-establish some confidence.  If we can carry that forward into Sunday's match and get a result at Old Trafford, there may yet be hope for this damp squib of a season.

Feckinell lad it was worst, Ive never seen such an under performing Liverpool side since Houlliers dark days.
I dont blame Rafa I blame them on the pitch, they have nop heart, no determination, no self confidence, I dont know what it is, I am not a shrink  :D
Somethings not right atall, we can blame the WC but no other teams are suffering from it.
Personally I think the rotations at the start of the season might have an effect on the players indavidually yet they cant speak about as Rafa is not a man manager, he tells you what to do on the pitch thats it, doesnt listen to you as a person, doesnt explain certain situations to people personally.
They think they are playing on the back of a good performance then bang the team sheets read out and guess what your not on it.
Its bound to effect players confidence, everyone forgets that there is also a really big language barrier with our new boss and his side kicks.
Its the most difficult thing in the world trying to put your thoughts through in another language its so feckin hard, its unbelievable.
But imagine having to put your thougfhts through to so many different nationalties?
I dont envy Rafa but he has a tough task ahead and its not going to be easy.
Maybe to many changes to personel in such a short time.

Dont you think after 3 years we should be at the level required?

Yes and no we where high then we had a major overhaul in personell, its not easy on the settled squad that was laready inplace.
You should gradually bring in new personell.
And us we where the biggest complainers out with the deadwood like a bunch of screaming witches, maybe just maybe it wasnt such a good idea to put all that wood on the bonfire after all.
Better the devil you know, you know what I mean  :)

Oh and BTW there was a positve out the game tonight and it was Sammi Hyypia he was superb.  :buttrock
He was there when needed and knows the score he's been around the block enogh, thats why I keep harping on about Didi he would have also been there in our hour of need.
Hamann and Hyypia best two players this club has had in the last 10 years FACT.

TERRIBLE, AWFUL, LACK-LUSTRE, PATHETIC, DISGRACE....

The list could go on; I have to admit that for a lifelong fan of LFC at times tonight I actually felt some contempt towards the men in red. There were too many players in red on that pitch tonight not giving a flying feck about what kind of performance they put in. The passing was atrocius from men who are supposed to be among the best players around. The minute they lost the ball there was no gut busting attempts to win the ball back, it was all - somebody else will get the ball back. We had two of the paciest players around on the pitch tonight but did the team try to add pace to our game? no they didn't, whilst Bellamy was making forward runs nobody was going forward to help him and Gonzalez whilst trying was at times downright poor. I wouldn't normally pick on individual players but Zenden just isn't upto the standard. His passing was abysmal, the tackling was non-existant and at times I think he forgot he was in a football match. Crouchie seems to be developing his goal missing skills again and apart from the goal he did score brought nothing to the team performance; to be fair he didn't have too much to feed off of but that near open goal from 2 yards out will give many of us nightmares for a few nights to come.
Defensively a clean sheet is a good outcome but again at times the solidity of last season was conspicuous by it's absence.

As I sit here I really do fear for the outcome of the game on sunday, another peformance like tonights or any other away performance this season is going to bring us nothing but tears. If I were to bump into Rafa in the street tomorrow my only advice would be to start ripping into some of his more established players and even to start banging some heads together.

I may be over reacting and come tomorrow I may look at this post and think I've been a bit too harsh but it takes alot for me to slag off the team I've followed all of my life and when I see such a poor, lack-lustre performance yet again it really is starting to become one poor peformance too many.

Can we all stop listening to the stats no wins or goals away until today for 1 year ?
Right lets clear this up...last season away...real betis....we scored twice, chelsea was 0-0...good result, and then a 1-0 win in anderlecht...again good result.
We then lost 1-0 to Benfica and drew 0-0 in PSV (another good result) so these stats that are being held against us are basically no away goal in 2 games ?
We won tonight, i agree it wasnt brilliant...but we won, and that was without our best player, also Sissoko and Kuyt were nursed back in. I am more than happy.
We will not dominate every game, we kept a clean sheet and are now in pole position to qualify from the group with 3 games to spare.
Lets not kick off when the lads win eh.

I thought it was just what we needed. Not in the sense of the performance of course because we were at best pedestrian, but in the sense that Bordeaux are absolutely feckin garbage so it gave us a chance to rack up a clean sheet and an away win.

Those people who are expecting fluency and flowuing football are going to have to wait, step one is making ourselves difficult to beat. If we can continue on the same path at Old trafford, getting any sort of result at all on the road then we can begin to turn the corner. Today was step one, and such is the total lack of confidence within the ranks we are probably going to have to get good results in four or five games on the bounce before we hit any sort of form. Hopefully we don't get tempted to go 4-5-1 or play Gerrard on the left or try any other eccentric rotations on Sunday. The best players in their best positions will do just fine for now, thanks.

i was p!ssed tired after having to do 2 successive daily trips of 420km each day, and having to go thru lengthy meetings in between the drives that I forgot to set the alarm clock to wake up at 2:00 am (yes that the time these Euro games are telecast to my parts of the world!). So when I got up at 5:00am, I immediately surfed the net and waited for the final score to doenload....agonising wait and saw Bordeaux..0, Liverpool..1. I was so happy! first away win of the season, and Crouchy scored from a headed goal off a corner.

Then I read the postings in this thread, and majority described it as an awful performance. I can't give any comments on this at all but this season, our passing has generally been very bad and the defending were at times suicidal. I dearly hope we improve drastically by Sunday or risk getting another 3 goal thrashing.

Wasnt we hard to beat last season?  I thought this year we would of pushed on but we dont seem to have done that and as an offensive force we dont look potent at all.
